Dao Tu Communal House - National architectural and artistic relic

(BNP) - Dao Tu communal house (Song Ho commune, Thuan Thanh town) was built a long time ago. During the reign of Le Trung Hung (18th century), the communal house was restored and embellished on a large scale. It worships God Cao Bien, a mandarin sent by the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty to be the Governor of Giao Chau in the 9th century.

Dao Tu Communal House belongs to Song Ho commune, Thuan Thanh district. From 1945 onwards, it was called "General Ho Communal House" because this was the common communal house of 4 villages in the ancient Dong Ho Communal House, including Dong Ho, Dao Tu, Xuan Tu, and Tu Khe. After the August Revolution of 1945, Dao Tu communal house was requisitioned as the headquarters of the Administrative Committee, meeting hall, and granary of the commune. In 1994, it was handed over to Dao Tu village to manage and use.

Currently, the communal house includes the following buildings: “Đại đình” (Great communal hall), “Dải vũ” house (two rows of houses) and “Nghi môn” (gate).

The great communal hall consists of 5 compartments and 2 lean-stones and 4 curved roofs.


In the middle of the roof, there are two dragons flanking the fiery sun.

Connected to the middle of the Great Communal hall is the “Hậu Cung” (Emperor’s Harem), separated by a "forbidden door". The Emperor’s Harem consists of 3 compartments.



 

The inside of the Great Communal Hall is carved with artistically stylized patterns, flowers and leaves.

The two rows of Dai Vu were restored by the people in 2013 according to traditional architecture, each building has 3 compartments, 2 lean-stones, 4 curved roofs.

The are many relics in the communal house such 02 ordinations, paper material, dating from Tu Duc; 01 throne, made of wood, dated to the Nguyen Dynasty; set of eight treasures; horizontal lacquered board…


 

Dao Tu Communal House was ranked as a National architectural and artistic relic in 2015 according to Decision No. 1342/QD-BVHTTDL dated April 24, 2015.
