Deploy the plan to organize Festival “Về miền Quan họ 2019” (Coming back to Quan ho land in 2019)

(BNP) – In the afternoon of October 2nd, the Provincial People’s Committee deployed the plan to organize the Festival “Về miền Quan họ 2019” (Coming back to Quan ho land in 2019) and celebrate 10th anniversary of Bac Ninh Qan ho folksong recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee chaired the meeting.

According to the plan, the Festival “Về miền Quan họ 2018” (Coming Back to Quan ho land 2019) and the 10th anniversary of Bac Ninh Quan ho folksong recognized by UNESCO as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity will take place from February 13th to February 28th, 2019.

The program consists of 4 key activities including the celebration of 10th anniversary of Bac Ninh Quan ho folk song recognized as the intangible cultural heritage of humanity with the theme "Rạng rỡ miền Quan họ” (The radiance of Quan ho land); the final of Kinh Bac beauty contest 2019; the program of international and national art and culture exchange with the theme "Tứ hải giao tình” (The meeting of four oceans) and the program of Quan ho singing on the boat.

Furthermore, a series of cultural, sports and tourist activities will be organized simultaneously in the districts, town and city such as the Quan ho singing contest at Ky Hoi Spring 2019, honoring collectives and individuals who have made great contributions to preserving and promoting the values of folk songs, the Spring Newspaper Festival 2019, Youth camp, exhibitions of gems, stone, jewelry...; displaying material and artifacts with the theme "Quan ho Bac Ninh folk songs - from the source to the contemporary", organizing the Quan ho singing in hosting house; performance of Dong Ngu village’s water puppetry; some folk games; free tours by bus;; the exhibition "Bac Ninh - Destination of cultural, spiritual tourism, festivals, culinary and traditional villages…

Speaking at the Conference, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Phong stressed that the program will evaluate the results of 10 years of implementation of Bac Ninh province’s commitment with UNESCO in implementing the tasks and solutions to protect Bac Ninh Quan ho folksong as well as continue promoting and introducing the quintessence and unique values of Bac Ninh folksong in particular and the cultural history of Bac Ninh – Kinh Bac land to domestic and international friends, thereby, contributing to building Bac Ninh province into a centrally-run city in 2022.

The Vice Chairman assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to complete the script of the program of the 10th anniversary of Bac Ninh Quan ho and the program of international and national art and culture exchange to submit the Provincial People’s Committee.

He also further assigned the Office of the Provincial People's Committee to invite international art troupes such as Japan, Korea, China and Laos participating in the program.

The Department of Information and Communication organizes press conference with an aim to announcing the program’s information to the central and local press agencies and propagandizing the activities to celebrate the anniversary as well as the land, people and cultural tradition of Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac homeland on the mass media, he added.
