(BNP) - Towards the celebration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day (May 8), the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026), on the morning of May 7, the Provincial Red Cross Society organized the Launching Program for Humanitarian Month 2026 with the theme "80 Years - Journey of Compassion for the Community".

Attending the program were Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Lam Thi Huong Thanh; Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thi Ha; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Anh Tuan; Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Tran Van Tuan; Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Tran Thi Van; leaders of several departments, sectors, and localities; leaders of socio-political organizations and mass associations; the Executive Board of the Provincial Buddhist Sangha; representatives of businesses and sponsoring companion units.
In her opening remarks, Chairwoman of the Provincial Red Cross Society Le Thi Duyen stated that over the years, with the attention, leadership, and direction of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Central Committee, the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, and the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the close coordination of departments, sectors, mass organizations, and localities, humanitarian work in Bac Ninh province had achieved many positive results. The role of the Red Cross Society was increasingly clearly affirmed in mobilizing social resources, connecting kind hearts, and organizing practical and effective assistance activities.

Over the past 5 years, humanitarian work in Bac Ninh province had achieved many important results, becoming increasingly deep, practical, and effective. Through Humanitarian Month and various movements and campaigns, the entire province had mobilized resources of over 113 billion VND, thereby assisting nearly 100,000 turns of people in difficult circumstances, contributing positively to the implementation of social security policies. Along with that, the voluntary blood donation movement continued to develop sustainably, attracting large numbers of people from all walks of life to participate, receiving tens of thousands of units of blood annually, playing an important role in emergency and treatment, clearly demonstrating the spirit of responsibility to the community.
Community healthcare activities were implemented widely, with tens of thousands of turns of people receiving medical examinations, health consultations, and free medicine; many nutritional support and disease prevention programs had been effectively implemented, targeting vulnerable subjects. Besides, humanitarian assistance activities such as livelihood support, house construction, emergency relief, support for poor students, people with disabilities, and victims of Agent Orange, etc. continued to receive attention for implementation, step by step helping people stabilize their lives and overcome difficult circumstances.

With the theme "80 Years - Journey of Compassion for the Community", Humanitarian Month 2026 would be organized from May 1 to May 31, 2026, with the peak occurring from May 8 to May 19, 2026.
The Bac Ninh Provincial Red Cross Society respectfully called upon all levels, organizations, businesses, and all people to continue joining hands to respond to Humanitarian Month 2026 through specific, practical, and effective actions. In particular, pay special attention to and actively support and contribute to building the Red Cross Activity Fund at all levels to create stable, long-term resources, helping the society at all levels proactively implement timely assistance activities for difficult circumstances in the community.
The goal was to mobilize a minimum of 3 billion VND, assist at least 2,000 turns of people; build and repair 20 Red Cross houses; provide medical examinations and free medicine for about 2,000 turns of people; and mobilize a minimum of 6,000 units of blood.

Speaking at the program, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thi Ha acknowledged and praised the results achieved in the humanitarian work of the Provincial Red Cross Society over the past time, clearly affirming its role and position, not only as a movement-based activity but as an important pillar in the social security policy system, contributing to balancing, sharing, and ensuring harmonious development between the economy and social progress and justice.
She emphasized that 2026 held special significance, being both the year to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the year to accelerate the implementation of the province's socio-economic development goals in the new period. In particular, Bac Ninh was striving to become a centrally-run city in the direction of civilization, modernity, and rich identity. To realize that goal, besides maintaining economic growth rates, the province would pay special attention to improving the quality of life for the people, improving the happiness index, and ensuring the inclusiveness of social policies. In that overall picture, humanitarian work was not just a supplementary factor but was one of the important foundations contributing to consolidating social stability and creating momentum for sustainable development.

For Humanitarian Month 2026 to truly create a deep, practical, and sustainable impression, Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thi Ha requested all levels, sectors, agencies, units, localities, and the whole society to continue strongly innovating propaganda and mobilization towards practicality and efficiency; harmoniously combining traditional methods and digital platforms; making humanitarian values penetrate deeply into social life. Press and media agencies, and mass organizations shall increase the duration and frequency of columns; promptly discover, honor, and spread typical examples, thereby creating positive and sustainable social effects.
Improve the efficiency of mobilizing, managing, and using humanitarian resources in the direction of openness, transparency, for the right purpose and the right subjects. In particular, focus on building and developing the Red Cross Activity Fund at all levels to become a stable, long-term resource mobilization channel. Agencies, units, and localities should proactively develop appropriate mobilization plans; promote the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in connecting and calling upon businesses, organizations, and individuals to participate in contributing and supporting.
At the same time, innovate the content and methods of assistance towards practicality and sustainability; move strongly from short-term support to livelihood support, job creation, and improving the capacity of people to rise up on their own; link humanitarian activities with national target programs, especially sustainable poverty reduction and community development. Promote the application of information technology and digital transformation in humanitarian activities; build, update, and effectively exploit the "humanitarian address" database; strengthen connection and coordination of resources towards timeliness, accuracy, and fairness, thereby improving professionalism and operational efficiency. At the same time, strengthen the leadership and direction role of party committees and authorities at all levels; promote the core role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in gathering, coordinating, and unifying the actions of socio-political organizations and social forces participating in humanitarian work. Thereby, contributing to consolidating the great national unity bloc and ensuring sustainable social security.
At the program, provincial leaders together pressed the button to perform the ritual to launch Humanitarian Month 2026. Leaders of the Provincial Red Cross Society received symbolic signs responding to Humanitarian Month 2026 from representatives of 20 agencies, units, organizations, companies, and businesses that had registered to participate in support, with a total amount of more than 15.38 billion VND.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, provincial leaders and delegates attending the program directly contribute to support Humanitarian Month 2026.
On this occasion, the Provincial Red Cross Society handed over livelihood support to families in especially difficult circumstances in 18 communes and wards in the province, with a total amount of 1.8 billion VND. Gifts were presented to 15 students in difficult circumstances in the province (each gift set worth 2 million VND)./.
