(BNP) - On January 2nd, the Dai Son Communal People's Committee organized the opening ceremony of the first Ethnic Groups' Cultural and Sports Festival with the themes "Dai Son - The Echo of Sloong Hao Songs" and "The Flavor of Dai Son Apples". This is the first festival organized after the locality began operating under the two-tiered local government model.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Pham Hoang Son, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of several provincial departments and agencies; former leaders of the old Son Dong district; the leaders of some neighboring communes, the National Shooting Range Area I and businesses; and a large number of local people.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Hoang Van Phuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dai Son commune, emphasized: Dai Son commune has 19 villages, more than 2,700 households with 12,000 inhabitants, and is home to ethnic minorities such as Kinh, Tay, Nung, Dao, Cao Lan, and San Chi… Of which, ethnic minorities account for 73.3%.
In recent years, the Party committees, government, and people of ethnic groups in the area have closely followed the Party's guidelines and the State's policies, actively coordinating and implementing many activities to preserve, protect, and promote the cultural values of ethnic groups. These activities include maintaining traditional costumes and teaching ethnic mino languages.

The festival lasted two days (January 1-2, 2026) and featured a variety of unique cultural and sporting activities, including traditional sports competitions, folk art exchanges, performances of folk songs, folk dances, Sloonghao melodies, and Then singing; an exhibition and promotion of agricultural products with the theme "The Flavor of Dai Son Apples," and the introduction of OCOP products and other distinctive local products.
The Cultural and Sports Festival of Ethnic Groups in Dai Son Commune is not only an annual event at the beginning of the new year but also a practical activity aimed at preserving intangible cultural heritage, arousing national pride, and raising the sense of responsibility of the younger generation; thereby promoting the image of Dai Son as a destination rich in identity, with a green environment, linking cultural preservation with the development of services, ecotourism, and experiential tourism.

The festival also serves as an opportunity to promote and introduce Dai Son Apples - a key OCOP product - along with other distinctive local products, contributing to economic development and improving the lives of people in the highlands.
Through this festival, the traditional cultural values of the ethnic groups in Dai Son commune continue to be preserved and promoted; contributing to strengthening national unity, promoting the local image, and linking cultural preservation with tourism and socio-economic development.

At the opening ceremony, Dai Son commune announced the Decision to establish the Sloonghao Singing Club and the Then Singing Club of Dai Son commune - a significant milestone in the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage. At the same time, it commended and rewarded 19 exemplary ethnic minority households in cultural life and production and business, representing 19 villages in the commune.
