(BNP) – On the afternoon of October 9, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Thai visited, encouraged, and presented gifts to residents affected by the floods in Kep commune.

Secretary Nguyen Hong Thai encourages and directly directs forces participating in flood prevention and control in Kep commune.

Due to the impact of the circulation of Storm No. 11, 8 villages in Kep commune were isolated. As of 1:00 p.m. on October 9, 4 villages Truong Thinh, Tan Thinh, Ngoc Son and Viet Huong remained severely flooded and cut off. The road section from Cau Luong intersection to the gate of Division 3, passing through Ngoc Son Village, was submerged with strong currents, making it impassable. The

The local authorities, together with relevant forces and the regional Civil Defense Command, have deployed canoes and stationed personnel to guard and block roads that have been cut off. At the same time, they mobilized rescue teams to remain on standby for emergencies as water levels rise, assisted households in relocating people and property to safe areas, and prepared necessary equipment and tools to promptly respond to any arising situations.

During his visit to encourage local authorities and on-duty forces, Comrade Nguyễn Hồng Thái expressed his sympathy for their difficulties and highly appreciated their proactive response efforts, which helped minimize the damage caused by the floods. He acknowledged the close coordination and cooperation in assisting and mobilizing residents to relocate to safe areas, thereby contributing to the protection of people’s lives and property.

In the forthcoming time, the Secretary suggested local authorities and forces should continue to actively implement measures to overcome the consequences of floods and ensure that people in isolated areas have enough food, drinking water and medicine.

The Secretary also visited and encouraged residents of Viet Huong village, which has more than 200 households, including ethnic Hoa and Nung people, as well as overseas Vietnamese who have repatriated from Thailand.
