(BNP) - The Provincial People's Committee has just signed a Decision recognizing Song Lieu commune (now Song Lieu ward), Bac Ninh province, as a safe zone during the resistance war against the French.

Song Lieu ward in Bac Ninh province was recognized as a safe zone during the resistance war against the French.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Song Lieu Ward People's Committee the responsibility of widely publicizing this Decision to the Party Committee, the Government, and the People; at the same time, Song Lieu Ward is entitled to preferential regimes and policies according to current State regulations.

It is known that during the resistance war against French colonialism, Lieu Khe village, Song Lieu commune (now Song Lieu ward, located in the Safe Zone I of Bac Ninh), was sheltered and kept secret by the people of Song Lieu for many leaders of the Central Party Committee and the Northern Regional Party Committee, such as Hoang Quoc Viet, Le Quang Dao, and Van Tien Dung, during their revolutionary activities.

In February 1943, the Bac Ninh Party Committee opened two political training classes in Lieu Khe to cultivate and train cadres, and at the same time implement the policies of the Viet Minh Front on deploying cadres to work among the people and mobilizing the masses to enthusiastically participate in the revolutionary struggle. During this period, the Party cell and the people of Lieu Khe ensured the safety of the two printing offices of the Northern Regional Party Committee: the "Liberation Flag" newspaper and the "National Salvation" newspaper, operating in the locality. Lieu Khe became a "red" village, and its Party cell was considered the strongest in Bac Ninh province at that time.
