Standing Vice Chairman Mai Son attends opening of thematic exhibition on typical antiques

(BNP) - On the morning of March 23, at Bac Ninh Museum No. 2, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Mai Son attended and cut the ribbon to open the 2026 thematic exhibition on typical antiques of Bac Ninh province.

The exhibition is organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Kinh Bac Antique Research and Collection Association. It is part of a series of events celebrating the recognition ceremony by UNESCO for Dong Ho folk painting as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding, as well as the announcement of the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac complex as a World Cultural Heritage, and the festival “Returning to the Heritage Land – 2026”.

The event was also attended by leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and numerous researchers and antique collectors from both inside and outside the province.

The exhibition introduces more than 500 typical artifacts originating from Vietnam across various historical periods. These items are currently preserved at Bac Ninh Museum No. 1, Bac Ninh Museum No. 2, and in private collections of members of the Kinh Bac Antique Association. Each artifact represents a historical story, contributing to a vivid picture of the development of Bac Ninh land and people, as well as the Vietnamese nation.

The exhibition is arranged into three main themes: Theme 1: Pre-Dong Son and Dong Son Culture Period, featuring artifacts that reflect the remarkable development of early Vietnamese metallurgy, including bronze drums, bronze jars, jewelry, and stone tools. Notably, a National Treasure bronze jar stands out with its intricate patterns and sophisticated craftsmanship.

Theme 2: Chinese Domination Period (1st–10th century), showcasing over 100 artifacts such as pots, decorative items, and architectural components, reflecting cultural exchange and integration between indigenous and external influences.

Theme 3: Independent Feudal Period (10th–20th century). The largest section of the exhibition, highlighting Ly Dynasty ceramics such as jars and pots. These works demonstrate the flourishing of Vietnamese ceramic art with distinctive glazes such as celadon, ivory, and brown glaze, combined with delicate shapes and refined engraving techniques.

Numerous visitors visit the exhibition.

The exhibition will be open to visitors until April 2, 2026. It provides a valuable space for cultural exchange between researchers, collectors, and the public, while raising awareness of heritage preservation and promoting national pride.

Organizations and individuals in difficult circumstances receive gifts at the program.

At the opening ceremony, several organizations and individuals donated valuable antiques to the museum. On this occasion, the Kinh Bac Antique Research and Collection Association also presented gifts to disadvantaged individuals and organizations in Bac Ninh Province, demonstrating community responsibility and solidarity.
