Bac Ninh province promotes strength of OCOP products
(BNP) - After 5 years of implementation, the “One Commune, One Product” program (OCOP program) in the province had a profound and widespread influence, contributing to rural economic development based on strength and advantage, especially the products and traditional jobs in each locality.

As one of the early participants in the province’s OCOP program, until now, the Safe Fruit and Vegetable Production Cooperative in Lien Ap village, Viet Doan commune, Tien Du district has 4 registered products, achieving a 3-star OCOP at the provincial level.
Along with the products of Lien Ap Cooperative, to date, the province has 93 provincial-level OCOP products (59 products with 4 stars and 34 products with 3 stars) from 38 entities in 8 out of 8 districts, towns, communes and cities, an increase of 60 products compared to 2020. Among them, localities with many recognized OCOP products such as Luong Tai district (19 products); Thuan Thanh town (17 products); Bac Ninh city (13 products); Tien Du district and Que Vo town. each of which has 12 products, and so on. These products are mainly in the food, beverage, souvenir and decoration groups.
OCOP products have been increasingly acknowledged and trusted by many consumers inside and outside the province, thereby, preserving traditional crafts and promoting local socio-economic development. Typical products include PTK shrimp sauce with meat from PTK 879 Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Lim town, Tien Du district); An Thinh garlic from Gia An Education and Tourism Services Trading Company Limited (An Thinh commune, Luong Tai district); heirloom taro cake and five-color cake from Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nhung’s household (Thi Cau ward, Bac Ninh city); Tuan Lien Bui spring roll (Ninh Xa ward, Thuan Thanh town); Minh Thu spousal cake (Dinh Bang ward, Tu Son city); Yen Phu “Nep Cai Hoa Vang” glutinous rice (Yen Phong district), etc.
In the 2018 - 2024 period, the province has organized 122 propaganda conferences on the content, purpose, meaning, participation methods, and product standardization cycle of the OCOP program for over 12,000 people and households; as well as opened 15 training classes for the OCOP Program’s management staff at district and commune levels and other entities.

In addition, the province also pays attention to the policies that support entities participating in the OCOP program. Each OCOP product achieving 5 stars will be rewarded with VND 100 million, VND 30 million for 4-star products and VND 20 million for each 3-star product.
In the coming time, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will advise the Provincial Approval Council to recognize about 50 more OCOP products with 3 or 4 stars, increasing the number of products recognized as OCOP in the province to 143 products. The Department needs to coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to implement the OCOP product pilot model on community tourism associated with forming and developing the OCOP product chain in Hoa Long ward (Bac Ninh city); Phu Lang commune (Que Vo town); Song Ho ward (Thuan Thanh town). Therefore, the program aims to preserve and promote traditional cultural beauties as well as build sustainable new rural areas.
