Government holds online conference on completing Plan for implementing National Power Development Plan

The Power Plan VIII was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 500/QD-TTg dated May 15, 2023. The plan has determined the goals, perspectives, vision, development orientation, and priority projects as well as the specific solutions to develop the power sector.

At the conference, the Ministry of Industry and Trade presented the draft plan for implementing Power Plan VIII. It includes 9 chapters, specifying key contents such as a detailed forecast of power load demand results; plan of power source and grid investment; demand for land use for investment in power development; solutions and resources for implementation. 

Leaders of ministries, sectors, and localities discussed and gave ideas to complete the draft content of the plan. At the same time, they also proposed their opinions  to edit, supplement, and update a number of contents related to the power grid and capacity scale of power source development projects in the localities.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to urgently supplement and complete the Plan for implementing Power Plan VIII to ensure compliance with regulations of the Planning Law and relevant laws. In particular, note that the determination of the list of projects, schemes, capacity scale of all types of power sources must ensure balance by region and region; balance supply and demand within the region to develop and effectively exploit power sources.

Ministries, branches and People’s Committees of provinces and cities shall determine specific methods, resources and coordination mechanisms for implementation, ensuring that the Plan for implementing Power Planning VIII is implemented effectively, contributing to adequate supply. Electricity serves socio-economic development, the Deputy Prime Minister added.

Immediately after the conference, Vice Chairman  Dao Quang Khai asked the sectors to follow the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha. He assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with Bac Ninh Power Company to closely follow the Master Plan and Implementation Plan of Power Plan VIII.
