Investing in social housing is investing in country’s development

(BNP) - This was emphasized by Prime Minister (PM) Pham Minh Chinh at the national online conference on removing difficulties and obstacles, promoting the development of social housing held on March 6. Also attending the conference were Deputy PMs: Tran Hong Ha and Ho Duc Phoc.

Participants at Bac Ninh’s venue were Mr. Dao Quang Khai, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; leaders of departments, branches, localities; leaders of a number of commercial banks, investors in social housing construction in the province.

According to the report from the Ministry of Construction, from 2021 to now, 655 social housing projects have been implemented nationwide with a scale of 593,428 units. To date, 103 projects with a scale of 66,755 units have been completed. In 2024, 28 projects with a scale of 21,874 units have been completed.

Nationwide, 10 localities have included social housing development targets in their annual and 5-year socio-economic development plans; 30 localities have issued plans to implement the Project. Most localities have allocated sufficient land funds for social housing development; in which, many localities are interested in reserving social housing land funds in favorable locations, ensuring technical and social infrastructure requirements.

For the implementation of the VND 120,000 billion support package, up to now, 37 out of 63 Provincial People’s Committees have sent documents or announced on the Electronic Information Portal the list of projects participating in the Program with a total of 90 projects, the total disbursement amount is more than VND 2,800 billion.

In Bac Ninh, according to the Project “Investing in the construction of at least 01 million social housing apartments for low-income people and industrial park workers in the 2021 – 2030 period” approved by the PM, the province will develop 72,200 apartments. To date, 54 social housing projects for low-income people and industrial park workers have been implemented with a total land area of ​​about 173 hectares. The completed projects will meet about 7.1 million m2 of floor space with more than 77,000 apartments (of which 6 projects were completed before 2021 and are in operation, meeting about 11,000 apartments).

In addition, the province has arranged in the zoning and detailed planning projects 350 hectares of land for social housing development, which when completed will meet the demand for about 120,000 apartments; of which 19 projects are eligible for approval in principle to select investors with a total area of ​​50 hectares, equivalent to about 18,000 apartments.

Concluding the conference, PM Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that social housing development is a driving force in current socio-economic development; investment in social housing is investment in the country’s development; therefore, it requires the participation of the entire political system.

After the conference, in his concluding remarks at the Bac Ninh’s venue, Standing Vice Chairman Dao Quang Khai emphasized that the demand for social housing in the province is currently very large, so he requested departments, branches, units and enterprises to focus on seriously implementing the PM’s instructions.
