Making Bac Ninh become major trade and service center

On January 1, 1997, Bac Ninh province was re-established on the basis of splitting Ha Bac province. In the early years of re-establishment, the province's commercial infrastructure was backward and degraded; goods and services were poor.

After 25 years of investment and construction, the province's commercial and service infrastructure has formed and developed in the direction of civilization, modernity, and e-commerce application. The number of businesses operating in the field of commerce and services in the area has also increased rapidly, creating a vibrant business environment. Types of business services are increasingly diversified and rich in the modern direction such as: trade centers, supermarkets, specialized stores, online sales, spiritual tourism, craft village services …

The province has now 03 commercial centers in operation with a network of 26 supermarkets, 108 markets and over 300 convenience stores of all kinds. There are well-known corporations and retail companies in Bac Ninh such as: Media Mart, FPT, Vingroup... In 2021, total retail sales of goods and services reached VND 61,903 billion, with an increase of nearly 65 times compared to 1997. Many specialized streets were formed in Bac Ninh city and Tu Son city and so on.

In 1997, Bac Ninh province had only 05 bank branches a level 1 and 11 People's Credit Funds. By 2021, there were 165 banking and credit institutions with more than 1,000 transaction points.

Transport services have grown quite well, and inter-provincial and intra-provincial bus routes are expanded and enhanced. Especially, from 2010 up to now, the type of logistics has appeared with the system of ICD inland ports and 14 logistics centers. Total transportation revenue in 2021 was estimated at VND 7,638 billion and 103 times higher than in 1997; among which, logistics revenue in 2021 accounted for 53.8%, while 1997 only accounted for 1.3%...

Tourism activities are changed. The tourism service infrastructure system and cultural and tourism promotion programs are invested, thus meeting the needs of tourists and making a significant contribution to change the appearance and landscape of Bac Ninh urban.

In the next period, Bac Ninh province aims to become one of the major commercial and service centers, meeting the requirements of centrally run city. The province will promote the development of modern distribution and e-commerce; build regional logistics centers, inland ports (ICDs), supermarkets, shopping centers, specialized streets, etc. speed up the investment in urban areas, eco-tourism, cultural-historical, convalescence and entertainment areas….
