Ministry of Transport approves addition of Gia Binh Inland Container Depot to planning

(BNP) - The Ministry of Transport has just approved a local adjustment to add Gia Binh Inland Container Depot (ICD) (Bac Ninh province) to the Plan for developing the dry port system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.


By 2030, Gia Binh ICD will have a planned area of ​​7-20 hectares with a throughput capacity of 70,000-200,000 TEU/year.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Transport added Gia Binh ICD to the planned dry port system in Bac Ninh province. Gia Binh ICD connects to roads including National Highway 17, Hanoi Ring Road 4 and Gia Binh Airport, connecting to Hai Phong and Quang Ninh seaports and Lang Son border gate.

By 2030, Gia Binh ICD will have a planned area of ​​7-20 hectares with a throughput capacity of 70,000-200,000 TEU/year. By 2050, the planned area will be about 52 hectares.

According to forecasts, the volume of goods passing through Gia Binh ICD is about 0.48-0.72 million tons (equivalent to 0.04-0.06 million TEU) by 2030. Of which, air cargo is about 0.26 million tons (equivalent to 0.022 million TEU) and sea and road cargo is about 0.22-0.46 million tons (equivalent to 0.018-0.038 million TEU).

By 2030, the total volume of air cargo transported from industrial parks in the provinces of Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Hanoi is forecast to be around 1.5 million tons and reach over 11 million tons by 2050.

Gia Binh ICD will serve goods by air, and can combine serving goods by sea and road from some neighboring industrial parks./.
