Total revenue from tourism reached 710 billion in 2017

(BNP) - In the afternoon of January 9th, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference to deploy its mission in 2018. Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Vice Chairman Provincial People's Committee attended and directed the conference.

In 2017, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has closely followed the guideline and direction of Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in effectively carrying out the tasks of the development of culture, sports, family and tourism in the province. Cultural, sports and tourism activities were organized vibrantly and widely. The traditional cultural values of the nation were preserved, promoted, restored and put into community cultural activities, contributing to enriching spiritual life of the people, promoting the image of Bac Ninh to tourists in and outside the country.

In particular, the Department has advised Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee to successfully organize the program of 185th anniversary of establishment, 20th anniversary of re-establishment of Bac Ninh province and received the First Class Independence Medal.

The program of Quan ho singing on the boat has attracted the special attention of people in and outside the province. It was an important point in introducing and promoting the unique culture of Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the world heritage value. In 2017, Bac Ninh welcomed about 1.1 million visitors, total revenue from tourism reached 710 billion dong, increase 20% compared with 2016.

The sports movement has been invested and achieved many good results. During the year, the Department successfully organized 06 national and international sport tournaments, and got more than 200 medals of all kinds. Especially, the establishment of Volleyball Training Center and launching Kinh Bac Women's Volleyball Team, which aim to satisfy the people's cultural and spiritual life.

In 2018, the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector will implement some key tasks including implementing the commitments with UNESCO on preserving and promoting the value of world cultural heritages, completing the overall plan of preserving and promoting the national relics of Phat Tich and But Thap pagodas, compiling dossiers of recognition for from 15 to 20 provincial-level relics, actively promoting tourism in association with cultural heritage values, striving to reach a total of 1.3 million tourists.

Addressing the Conference, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phong acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector in 2017, actively contributing to the development of the province.

In the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the PPC proposed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to promote cultural activities, arts, sports and physical training to promote the unique culture of Bac Ninh province to domestic and foreign tourists.

To speed up the process of developing a dossier proposing UNESCO to recognize Dong Ho folk painting as an intangible cultural heritage and at the same time to develop the project on the database of Bac Ninh cultural assets and e-library associated with smart city model.

On this occasion, 02 individuals with excellent achievements received the Third Class Labor Medal; many individuals and collectives received Provincial People's Committee's emulation flag; Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Provincial People's Committee and from Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
