Bac Ninh, Amkor sign agreement to develop semiconductor factory in Yen Phong

(BNP) - On November 4, the Provincial People's Committee and Amkor Technology, Inc. (Amkor) jointly held a signing ceremony to develop a project of manufacturing, assembling and testing semiconductor in Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park.

Chairwoman Nguyen Huong Giang and Amkor’s President JONGRIP JI signed an agreement to develop a semiconductor manufacturing, assembling and testing factory.

Participants at the signing ceremony were Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Dao Hong Lan; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Quoc Chung; Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huong Giang; Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan; Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Thi Hang; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dao Quang Khai.

At the ceremony, Chairwoman Nguyen Huong Giang and Amkor’s President JONGRIP JI signed an agreement to develop a semiconductor manufacturing, assembling and testing factory in Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park with total investment capital of USD 1.6 billion by 2035 on an area of about 23ha. Accordingly, in the first phase, the project will be funded USD 520 million to be disbursed within 5 years from the date of the Investment Registration Certificate issuance. The project is expected to start construction in the first quarter of 2022.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. JONGRIP JI said that he was impressed by the diligence, high sense of responsibility and the intellectual of Bac Ninh’s people as well as the support from the provincial leaders together with modern infrastructure and abundant human resources.

He committed to doing his best for the success of the semiconductor industry in Bac Ninh province, while on the other hand, hoping to receive the support from the Vietnamese Central Government as well as Bac Ninh province so that the project can develop stably in the long-term in the province.

For her part, Secretary Dao Hong Lan expressed her hope that the products made in Bac Ninh will be available in many countries around the world.

Lan urged Amkor as well as the provincial departments, agencies and branches to execute the agreed contents so that the project can soon be granted an investment certificate, stressing that Bac Ninh will create all favorable conditions for the project to put into operation soon according to the progress set out by the Company.

Also at the Ceremony, Amkor signed principle agreement of land rental with Viglacera Corporation.
