Bac Ninh athletes win 11 medals at three international sports

(BNP) - According to Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 8 out of 9 Bac Ninh athletes participated in three international sports competitions including Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship 2018; Asian Youth Chess Championships, U 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 & 18 years old; Southeast Asia Karate Federation Championship 2018 and won 11 all kind of medals (4 gold medals and 7 bronze medals).

Taking place from April 18th to April 30th 2018 in Uzbekistan, Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship 2018 attracted over 600 athletes from 46 countries participating in 3 contents. In this tournament, Do Tu Tung won three gold medals in the U92kg, 128kg and 220kg.

Asian Youth Chess Championships, U 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 & 18 years old took place from March 30th to April 11th 2018 in Thailand. The competition gathered over 1,000 athletes from 25 countries competing in three categories. Tran Dang Quang Quang won 1 bronze medal.

Southeast Asia Karate Federation Championship 2018 took place from April 20th to April 25th 2018 in Bac Ninh province and attracted 400 sports officials, coaches and athletes from seven countries in the South East Asia. Athletes competed in the event which features the men’s, women’s teams categories and individuals’ classes divided into four groups of age: 14-15, 16-17, over 18, and under 21. This tournament, Bui Van Chuyen fought in the senior’s men U57kg with a gold medal; the cadet fighters’ bronze medals went to Tran Manh Kien, Ngo Van Hung, Le Huy Duc and Hoang Van Tam. In particular, Nguyen Van Nhat won 2 bronze medals.
