Bac Ninh wins 29 medals at the 8th National Sports Festival

(BNP) - Up to December 9th, Bac Ninh’s sports delegation has completed 10 out of 36 disciplines and won 29 medals including 5 gold medals, 11 silver medals, and 13 bronze medals.

Accordingly, 05 gold medalists of the Bac Ninh sports delegation belonged to the athletes of Pham Sy Thu (classic wrestling, 66 kg), Vuong Thi Vy (Boxing, 57kg), Nguyen Manh Cuong (Boxing, 81kg), Nguyen Minh Quang (the foil fencing) and teammate content of the sabre fencing.

Regarding the fencing, with the achievement of winning two gold medals (individual and team), Bac Ninh overcomes Ho Chi Minh city to reach the second position, after the delegation of Hanoi. Particularly, at boxing, Bac Ninh ranked 5th of 33 units joining the competition.

So far, the Bac Ninh sports delegation ranked 26th of 65 provinces, cities and sector. Compared to the 7th National Sports Festival, Bac Ninh has increased 5 levels and 14 medals (1 gold medal, 6 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals).

For these achievements, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phong and leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Provincial People's Committee Office timely motivated and rewarded VND 20 million for each coach and athlete who wins the gold medal in the competition.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Phong affirmed that the achievements of the coaches and athletes contributed significantly to raising the position and rank of Bac Ninh sports in the national arena.

The 8th National Sports Festival, with 36 subjects and 743 contents, has been taken place from November 15 to December 10 in Hanoi, attracting more than 11,700 athletes, coaches, and referees. During the festival, Bac Ninh sports delegation competed in 10 out of 36 subjects (20 coaches and 87 athletes).
