Historical and architectural monument of An Phu communal house

(BNP) - An Phu communal house, Phu Lam commune, Tien Du district was once a small temple. In the Le Dynasty, the villagers contributed to building the communal house on the ground of the old temple and in the reign of the 7th King Tu Duc (1854). It was restored and embellished on a large scale with many items, meeting the daily needs and beliefs of the local people.


 

An Phu communal home worships “Thành Hoàng” (tutelary god) Minh Mang Dai Vuong who had the merit of helping Trung Sisters defeat the To Dinh invaders. Currently, the communal house still retains the following items: Gate; “Đại đình” (Great Communal Hall), “Hậu cung” (Emperor’s Harem) and ancillary works.


A clean green pond in front of the communal house, creating  a cool landscape for the relic.


The gate of the communal house was built with traditional architecture.


The Great Communal Hall has an architecture of Chinese “Dinh” letter 3 compartments, 2 lean-stones and 2 doors.


Traditional curved roofs.


The Emperor’s Harem has 1 compartment and 2 doors.



 

An Phu communal house still preserves many valuable documents and artifacts such as: The throne (18th century); incense sticks, 03 water stations (nineteenth century)…


In the communal house, there is also an altar to President Ho Chi Minh.


 

Every year on the 12th day of the second lunar month, An Phu villagers hold the Festival to commemorate the tremendous merits of tutelary god Minh Mang Dai Vuong. According to Decision No. 07/2005/QD-BVHTT dated March 8, 2005, the communal house is ranked as a national historical and architectural monument.
