Merchandise export in first 6 months increases by 5.3%

(BNP) - On June 19, the Provincial People's Committee held the monthly meeting in June 2020 chaired by Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huong Giang.

According to the report of Department of Planning and Investment, in the first 6 months, the complicated Covid-19 pandemic has profoundly affected economic sectors as well as social life. From the beginning of the year, the whole political system has drastically and timely taken synchronous measures to fight against epidemics, while ensuring socio-economic development and social security.

The province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first 6 months of 2020 is estimated at VND 53,183 billion, down 3.3% over the same period last year. Economic structure: industry and construction sector accounts for 74.3%; service accounts for 22.4%; agriculture, forestry and fishery accounts for 3.3%. Industrial production value is estimated at VND 464 trillion. Merchandise export is estimated at USD 14.7 billion, up 5.3% over the same period of previous year; Import is estimated at over USD 13 billion, up by 9%.

State budget revenue is estimated at VND 14,565 billion or 49.7% of the yearly estimate, down 5% over the same period, of which, domestic revenue was VND 11,615 billion. Budget expenditure is VND 9,577.5 billion or 49.4% of the estimate, up 11.7% compared with same period last year, of which development investment accounts for VND 5,985 billion. 87 foreign investment projects are granted investment certificates with total investment capital of USD 169.5 million and 42 projects are adjusted investment certificates with total increased capital of USD 180.3 million.

Based on the forecast for the next six months of the year, the Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that all levels and branches effectively carry out the "dual" task in both socio-economic development and Covid-19 prevention so as to achieve the target of 5.4% increase in GRDP compared with that in 2019.
