Nearly 200 athletes participate in 2023 Provincial Swimming Championships

(BNP) - The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Education and Training and the People's Committee of Gia Binh district jointly held a ceremony to launch the all people to practice swimming, prevent drowning and kick off the Bac Ninh Provincial Swimming Championship in 2023 on June 16, at the Sports Complex of Gia Binh district.

Attending the program were Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of departments, branches and localities.

The launching ceremony for all people to practice swimming and prevent drowning is a practical activity to propagate the benefits and effects of swimming, water safety skills and drowning accident prevention and control, thereby, contributing to gradual reduction in drowning accidents in the community, especially children. This activity contributes to raising awareness, roles and responsibilities of all levels, sectors, families and the whole society for drowning prevention and control, development of swimming teaching, learning to swim movement, creating a healthy playground for people, particularly students and children.

The 2023 Provincial Swimming Championship attracted nearly 200 athletes from 8 districts, towns and cities. This is a traditional, useful and meaningful sport activity for those who love swimming in the province, as well as an opportunity to evaluate and record the swimming practice and competition movements of agencies, units, localities and businesses, helping athletes meet, exchange, learn experiences and strengthen solidarity, contributing to promoting the movement of all people to practice swimming, preventing drowning.

Athletes competed in the following age groups: 6-8 years old, 9-11 years old, 12-14 years old, 15-17 years old, 18-20 years old and advanced group, competing in the content: 50m freestyle men, female; 100m freestyle male and female 100m backstroke male and female; 100m male and female frogs; 200m male and female frogs…

At the end of the tournament, the Organizing Committee awarded the first, second and third prizes in the content to the excellent athletes.
