(BNP) - On February 11, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies received Mr. Marc E. Knapper, the United States Ambassador to Vietnam. Mr. Le Xuan Loi, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee also attended the reception.

Secretary Nguyen Anh Tuan welcomed the US Ambassador and his delegation to visit and work in Bac Ninh in the first days of the new year. He briefed the Ambassador on Bac Ninh province’s socio-economic situation, culture, history, and people as well as the challenges of technical and social infrastructure, environment and other issues in the face of rapid urbanization and population growth. The Secretary recalled the successes in organizing the investment roundtable in Phoenix, Arizona during Bac Ninh provincial leaders’ working trip in September 2024.

Secretary Tuan hoped that the Ambassador would focus on introducing large US enterprises and investors in the semiconductor industry to research opportunities, production and business; supporting enterprises in training young human resources in AI and semiconductor chips; introducing and promoting the culture and people of Bac Ninh to international friends. Tuan affirmed that Bac Ninh province always accompanies and creates the most favorable conditions in premises, customs, tariffs and legal procedures for US enterprises to invest in the fields of semiconductor chip. He committed to supporting the Ambassador to successfully complete his tasks during his term of office in Vietnam.

For his part, Mr. Marc E. Knapper said that this was his second visit to Bac Ninh province. He emphasized that Amkor Group’s investment in Bac Ninh is the realization of the US Government’s commitment to supporting training for Vietnamese workers in accessing new technology, notably through collaboration with US universities and businesses to train human resources in new technical technology related to computers and AI. He stressed that Bac Ninh has attracted investment based on the right ecosystem and the successes in attracting investment of Bac Ninh in the recent years so that it will continue to lead the way to future successes. The Ambassador sincerely thanked the provincial leaders for their special attention to Amkor Group during the implementation of phase 1 and wished to continue supporting the Group in the subsequent components in Bac Ninh.

On the same day, the U.S. Embassy & Consulate in Vietnam visited the Bac Ninh Museum to learn about the cultural, historical and traditional values ​​of the Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac homeland through the exhibits. The delegation listened to Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs and learned about Quan Ho culture, which is a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Amkor Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park, is established by the United States and Korea. It is a pioneer in global semiconductor manufacturing with an area of ​​23 hectares and phase 1 investment of about USD 530 million. It focuses on providing advanced system-in-package (SiP) assembly and testing solutions for the world’s leading electronics and semiconductor manufacturing companies. The company’s revenue in 2024 reached VND 341.5 billion; its exports reached VND 341.5 billion; and its budget contributions through taxes was USD 3.5 million, equivalent to VND 87.5 billion. The company currently employs 1,256 workers, including 117 foreign workers and 1,136 domestic ones. The average income of Vietnamese workers is VND 15.6 million per month. In 2025, the company plans to increase the number of local workers by about 500 people. The company is committed to building a semiconductor ecosystem with Bac Ninh province to develop deeper integration into the global supply chain, thereby, contributing to the early formation of a semiconductor ecosystem in Vietnam since Vietnam has the advantage of young and high-quality human resources.

The Samsung Complex in Bac Ninh consists of 3 projects with a total registered investment capital of more than USD 10.6 billion, employing 44,600 workers. In 2024, the export turnover of the Samsung Complex in Bac Ninh reached more than USD 25 million. By 2025, its target of export turnover will reach USD 26.7 billion.

Vice Chairman Le Xuan Loi expressed his joy to visit the Samsung Complex and Amkor Company with the U.S. Embassy & Consulate in Vietnam. Loi hoped that during his term in Vietnam, the Ambassador would always support and assist foreign enterprises in general, and US enterprises in particular, to operate and develop smoothly in Vietnam. Bac Ninh province is dedicated to providing its best to foreign enterprises and investors. It always considers the Samsung Complex and Amkor as a model in the coordination between the government and investors, contributing to the Bac Ninh’s development as it is today. He hoped that the Ambassador would support and assist the Samsung Group to operate in Vietnam and export to the US market most effectively.
