The Government approves the project on making Bac Ninh into a centrally-run city

At the meeting, on behalf of provincial leaders, Mr. Nguyen Nhan Chien, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies reported briefly the contents related to the project on making Bac Ninh province into a centrally-run city. In the past years, the Party Committee, authorities and people in the province have striven and achieved many positive results, affirmed firmly that Bac Ninh is an important growth pole of the Capital region, with big influence and positive contribution to the development of the whole country.

So far, the province has reached 2 of 5 standards of the centrally-run city namely Natural area and structure, level of socio-economic development. As an illustration, at the end of 2018, Bac Ninh has 16 socio-economic indicators in the top of the country. In particular, the value of industrial production reached VND 1.136 million trillion, accounting for 13.2% of the whole country. Export value ranked second (reaching 34.85 billion USD), accounting for 14.7% of the whole country. Economic scale ranked 7^th and amounted to 3.4% of the country. Budget revenue reached 28,104 billion VND, ranking ninth in the country.

At the working session, the Prime Minister emphasized that in the process of making Bac Ninh into a centrally-run city, Bac Ninh province needs to anticipate difficulties such as environmental issues, quality of life, etc. Therefore, in the urban development program, the Prime Minister noted Bac Ninh should invest synchronously and avoid the defects affecting development, at the same time, the new Bac Ninh development planning in Bac Ninh has to hold its own characteristics of Kinh Bac region, a heritage city, where contains many valuable cultural and historical relics.

Congratulating Bac Ninh’s leaders on the impressive development steps of the province in 2018 with a wide range of leading indicators across the whole country, the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc believed that with the solidarity, renovation, and creativity, the Party Committee, authorities and people at all levels in the province will certainly fulfill the set targets, making Bac Ninh keep developing on a new height, which is not only the purpose of a centrally-run city but also an attractive destination, the growth pole of the Capital region and the whole country.
