Visit and learn from experiences in OCOP tourism product development models in Thai Nguyen province
(BNP) – Recently, a delegation from the Office of New Rural Development Coordination of Bac Ninh province organized a program to visit and learn from experiences in building models for developing OCOP tourism products in Thai Nguyen province.
The delegation visits the OCOP tourism product model at Hao Dat Tea Cooperative, Tan Cuong commune, Thai Nguyen city.
According to the report of the Office of New Rural Development Coordination of Thai Nguyen province, implementing the One Commune, One Product Program (OCOP Program) to date, the whole province has 240 OCOP products (149 of which have achieved 3 stars, 89 of them have achieved 4 stars and 02 products have achieved 5 stars).
The delegation directly visited and experienced tourism products at the Thai Hai Ethnic Ecological Stilt House Village Conservation Area, Thinh Duc Commune, Thai Nguyen City. Built in 2002 and put into operation to welcome tourists for sightseeing and relaxation since 2011, the Conservation Area covers over 70 hectares wide, with 30 traditional stilt houses and home to the Tay, Nung, San Chay, and Kinh ethnic communities.
The product “Tay ethnic cultural tourism in Thai Hai village” of the Conservation Area was recognized by the People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen province as achieving 4-star OCOP in 2020. Notably, in 2022, the Conservation Area was rated by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as one of the 32 “Best Tourist Villages in the World”.
The delegation also visited the OCOP tourism product model at Hao Dat Tea Cooperative, Tan Cuong Commune, Thai Nguyen City. Established in 2016, the cooperative has grown to 60 members, specializing in the production and trading of traditional Tan Cuong tea products. Currently, the cooperative has Dinh tea and Moc Cau tea products that meet 4-star OCOP standards and Tom Non tea products that meet 5-star OCOP standards.
Based on the practical visit, members of the delegation highly appreciated the effectiveness of the OCOP tourism program in Thai Nguyen province in recent years, which has attracted the participation of Party committees, authorities, businesses, cooperatives and people.
As a result, the delegation will advise the authority of Bac Ninh province to effectively implement the Project “Building a pilot OCOP tourism product in Bac Ninh province in the 2023 – 2025 period”. In the immediate future, the province needs to implement a pilot model of OCOP products on community tourism associated with the formation and development of OCOP product chains in Hoa Long ward (Bac Ninh city); Phu Lang commune (Que Vo town); Song Ho ward (Thuan Thanh town) to preserve and promote the traditional cultural beauty of localities, thus building sustainable new rural areas.
