Freestyle and Traditional Wrestling Tournament in 10th Bac Ninh Provincial Sports Festival opens

The Organizing Committee awards souvenir flags to the athletes participating in the tournament.

This year’s tournament gathered more than 130 athletes from 07 district-level units, including: Gia Binh, Luong Tai, Tien Du and Yen Phong districts; Que Vo town, Bac Ninh and Tu Son cities.

Athletes competed in the following categories: National Wrestling; Men’s and Women’s Freestyle Wrestling (17 years and older, 8 weight categories); Men’s Junior Freestyle Wrestling (12-17 years old, 8 weight categories). According to the Organizing Committee, this year’s tournament brings together many outstanding young faces selected from local amateur wrestling competitions, with high expertise.

The tournament aims to test and evaluate the quality of wrestling athletes at the grassroots level, creating conditions for coaches and athletes to meet, exchange, learn and improve their achievements, and develop the wrestling movement in the locality. At the same time, it also discovers, selects and supplements the force of athletes to compete at the 10th National Sports Festival.

Before and after the opening ceremony, matches took place in the tournament’s contents. According to the plan, the tournament will take place in 03 days (from March 2 to March 4, 2025) at the wrestling field in Viem Xa area, Hoa Long ward, Bac Ninh city.
