Hoai Thi pagoda (Dai Bi pagoda)

(BNP) - According to the elders, Hoai Thi pagoda (Lien Bao commune, Tien Du district) has the literal name of Dai Bi pagoda, built in 1081 and was once famous as an ancient pagoda. Legend has it that since the Ly dynasty, the pagoda has been a place where royal nobles came to visit, recite Buddhist sutras and study Buddhism.

During the resistance war, the pagoda was completely destroyed. In 1996, it was restored on a smaller scale than before on the old ground and has existed since then to this day. Currently, the pagoda is located on flat land in the middle of the village with a land area of ​​720m2. To the right of the pagoda is the village communal house, in front is a small pond within the relic grounds, outside is the main traffic road of the village.

The pagoda worships Buddha and Princess Dong Long. It includes the following works: Three Treasures and a relic auxiliary house.

The Three Treasures has an architecture of Chinese “Dinh” letter including a 5-compartment Tien Duong (Front Ceremonial Hall) with an oval wooden frame, 3 rows of vertical columns and 4 rows of horizontal ones.

Like other pagodas, cultural and religious activities at Hoai Thi pagoda are held every year on the full moon day of the first lunar month. On this day, villagers often go to the pagoda to pray for peace for all villagers, attracting many Buddhists and tourists.

In front of the pagoda is a small pond located within the relic grounds.

The pagoda is a typical religious building of the local people. This place also preserves a system of typical antiques and relics that are valuable in many aspects. It is also the center of people's spiritual life, contributing to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​and building community solidarity.

Hoai Thi pagoda is ranked as a provincial-level historical and cultural relic according to Decision No. 709/QD-UBND dated June 23, 2020.
