MoFA holds seminar between Heads of Vietnamese Diplomatic Missions and Northern localities

At the seminar, the leaders of the People's Committees of the Northern regions informed the outstanding features in the socio-economic development, the situation of foreign affairs in the past time and a number of key tasks in the near future.

Speaking at the Bac Ninh’s venue, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan briefed on the province’s socio-economic situation as well as the characteristics and strengths. Specifically, there are 16 integrated industrial parks approved by the Prime Minister with 10 among them already put into operation; it is estimated that Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in 2021 increases by 6.08% compared to 2020; industrial production index increased by 8.5% compared to 2020; total import-export turnover is USD 87.7 billion, or 27.5% exceed of the plan; accumulated up to now, more than 1.7 thousand valid FDI projects were issued investment registration certificates with a total investment capital of over USD 20 billion, and so on.

Tuan urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and heads of Vietnamese Diplomatic Missions  abroad in the 2021-2024 term to continue their support for Bac Ninh province in implementing investment promotion programs, encourage businesses to invest in the province, especially in the fields of high-tech industry, supporting industry; high-tech agriculture; development of new professions on the basis of industry 4.0; healthcare services, pharmaceuticals; education, vocational training, international financial services, logistics and other modern services; promote the province’s potentials and strengths in various forms such as booklets or websites of the Vietnamese Embassies in the host countries.

Concluding the seminar; Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung highlighted that the Ambassadors and Consul Generals pay attention to the proposals raised by the representatives from the localities. At the same time, he asked the localities to be more active in promoting and expanding international cooperation relations, thereby, contributing to opening up new cooperation opportunities, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development of localities in particular and in the region in general.
