National Relic - Lieu Giap Temple, Lim Town

(BNP) - Located on Sung mountain side, next to the ancient Tieu Tuong river, Lieu Giap temple (also known as Lung Son temple), Lung Son village, Lim town, Tien Du district, still retains its architectural features.


Lieu Giap Temple was built in the 18th century, to worship the female general Lieu Giap, the son of the homeland who helped Hai Ba Trung fight the Han invaders.


In front of the temple gate is a lake with green stone embankment.


 

Currently, Lieu Giap temple consists of: Gate, Front Ceremonial Hall, and Emperor’s Harem. The temple has the architecture of Chinese “Dinh” letter.

The statue of female general Lieu Giap is located in the middle of the Emperor’s Harem.


 

Currently, the temple still preserves many valuable ancient artifacts from the Le - Nguyen dynasties.

To the left of Lieu Giap temple is Trung Son - Thach Than temple.


 

Every year, on the occasion of the traditional Lim festival (January 13 of the lunar calendar), the government and local people hold a temple festival to commemorate the merits of their ancestors who have contributed to the country. Lieu Giap Temple is classified as a National Historic-Cultural Relic according to Decision No. 34-VH/QD, dated January 9, 1990.
