Online conference of Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project held
(BNP) - On December 3, the Ministry of Transport held an online conference with localities and units on the mid-term report on the investment project to build the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway.

Attending at the Bac Ninh’s venue were Mr. Ngo Tan Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of departments, sectors and localities.
According to the report, the investment project to build the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway has a total length of 388.35km, passing through 9 provinces: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Hai Phong. This is a railway line for transporting passengers and goods; designed speed is 160km/h; the total investment is VND 221,975 billion; the entire route has 34 stations on the main line, 2 stations on the branch line, distance of 11.5km/station. Expected to be put into operation in 2031.
For Bac Ninh province, the project runs for 2.89 kilometers through Tu Son city and Thuan Thanh town; Yen Thuong station, located in Chau Khe ward (Tu Son city), is designed as a freight train station for loading and unloading cargo. Bac Ninh province has provided a document to provide feedback on the route plan and station site while preparing the project's pre-feasibility study report, with the hope that when executed, the land fund on both sides of the road corridor will be utilized, benefiting local economic growth.
At the conference, the provinces and cities basically agreed on the route direction and scale of the project investment; proposed that the site clearance be carried out once (dual-track scale); cleared the land between the station area and the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway; arranged longitudinal sections for the overpass, limiting the division of residents, affecting existing works and planned industrial parks; updated the National Highway 1B intersection planning for the Provinical Road 295C intersection, etc.
The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project has been identified in the national master plans, national sectoral plans, regional plans (Northern midlands and mountainous areas, Red River Delta), and provincial plans. The project is consistent with the goal of developing a synchronous and modern transport infrastructure, meeting the needs of East-West corridor transport, international intermodal connections; sustainable and modern transport methods, minimizing environmental pollution.
