Promoting exchanges and cooperations between Bac Ninh province and Gumi city (Korea)
(BNP) - In the afternoon of October 20, Bac Ninh province and Gumi city (Korea) co-held a business forum. This is an event to promote exchanges and cooperations between Bac Ninh province and Gumi city on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea.

Participants at the forum were Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan; Mr. Kim Jang-ho, the mayor of Gumi; leaders of a number of relevant departments and sectors and representatives from enterprises of the two parties.
Standing Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh People’s Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan welcomed the Gumi delegation to the province, and briefly introduced the province's socio-economic development in recent years with many indicators among the top in the country, especially foreign investment attraction.
Tuan affirmed that the forum will open up opportunities for bilateral partnerships in investment, trade, tourism, health care, education, culture and communications.
Tuan highlighted that the RoK is the biggest foreign investor in Bac Ninh with about 14.25 billion USD in 951 projects, accounting for 62% of total foreign investment capital in the province. Projects of Korean investors such as Samsung, Intops, Hanwha, Techwin and Amkor have contributed importantly to social-economic development and social security in Bac Ninh, he said.
The Standing Vice Chairman hoped for investment from Gumi into industries important in the Fourth Industrial Revolution such as information communication technology, digital technology, nano technology, biological technology and new materials. He pledged that Bac Ninh will create the best possible conditions for investors from Gumi.
The mayor of Gumi, Kim Jang-ho expressed his pleasure to visit Bac Ninh province and attend the Business Forum. Emphasizing that Gumi has many similarities with Bac Ninh, especially in industrial development, Mr. Kim Jang-ho hoped that after the Forum, the two sides the two sides will continue to boost joint work in all aspects.
At the Forum, Standing Vice Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan and the Mayor of Gumi City and participants of the two sides exchanged a number of contents related to the placement of a featured symbol at the International Friendship Park of Bac Ninh province; development cooperation in all fields.
In particular, the representative of the Provincial Industrial Parks briefly introduced industrial zones, the potential for industrial development as well as the province's policies and incentives for investment attraction over the past time. Bac Ninh province currently attracts foreign investment capital from 39 countries and territories, investing in 16 industries and fields with a total investment of nearly USD 23 billion. Among which, Korea is the country with the largest scale of investment capital in Bac Ninh province with 951 projects, total investment capital of about USD 14.25 billion, accounting for 62% of the total foreign investment capital of the province…
A representative from Gumi city said that the whole city currently has about 3,200 businesses, including many large and typical global enterprises in high-tech fields such as screens, phones, secondary batteries, etc. defense industry, semiconductors... Up to now, among 44 Gumi companies investing in Vietnam, 20 are based in Bac Ninh, which showed the province’s investment attraction policy is effective.
