Standing Deputy Secretary Nguyen Quoc Chung visits and works in India and Nepal

(BNP) - Recently, a delegation of Bac Ninh province led by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Chung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council visited and worked in India and Nepal.

Joining the delegation were Mr. Ha Sy Tiep, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Propaganda and Training Commission; leaders of provincial departments, sectors and localities.

*In India, the Bac Ninh provincial delegation visited the Vietnam Embassy in India. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Chung emphasized the long-standing friendly relationship between Vietnam and India. Especially, after 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries’ relationship has developed rapidly and deepened with the upgrade to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” in September 2016. Hence, over the past years, Bac Ninh province has always been interested in promoting cooperation with Indian partners in all fields.

Chung briefed on the Bac Ninh province’s recent socio-economic development situation and affirmed that despite being the smallest province in the country, with a favorable location for transportation, in recent years, Bac Ninh province has developed rapidly and strongly with many indicators among the top of the country. The province issued investment registration to over 2,000 projects from 40 countries and territories with a total investment capital of more than USD 25 billion, among which, India has 4 active projects with a total investment capital of USD 35.7 million, mainly in the textile and garment sector, he added.

Besides economic development, Bac Ninh province is also a rich land of traditional cultural values, the nation’s cradle, and a place to worship the Vietnamese Ancestor - Kinh Duong Vuong. It also has intangible cultural heritage that represents and needs urgent protection of humanity.

Chung hoped that the Vietnam Embassy in India would pay attention and support Bac Ninh province to promote and encourage Indian enterprises to invest in the province, especially in the strong areas of Indian enterprises such as: biotechnology, automation, new materials technology, clean energy, pharmaceuticals, etc. The Embassy would assist the province in implementing information exchanges and promoting unique cultural values, heritage sites, and famous tourist destinations to the Indians.

In addition, he suggested the Indian Government offer scholarship programs for students and civil servants in most fields, create favorable conditions for the Bac Ninh community in India to live, study, work, and contribute to socio-economic development.

*After that, the delegation visited and worked with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi. This is a non-governmental and non-profit organization with about 9,000 members from the public and private sectors. The confederation has a prominent role in shaping India’s development journey and transforming the participation of Indian industries in the country’s development. It has been establishing Centers of Excellence that are popular in Logistics, Green Business, Sustainable Development, Water, Food and Agriculture... to contribute to capacity development, skilled professional training and a long-term focus on building industry competitiveness.

The CII is committed to supporting and promoting economic synergies to ensure sustainable economic relations between India and Vietnam in general and Bac Ninh province in particular.

The two sides exchanged and shared information on some issues of mutual concern related to promoting investment, accessing export markets for agricultural and handicraft village products, as well as promoting tourism - culture between the two countries’ people.

*Working with the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of Nepal, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Chung confirmed that on the development path, the Vietnamese people including Bac Ninh province, always appreciate the sincere feelings and active support of the Government and people of Nepal in the struggle for national independence and liberation in the past as well as the current cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.

Chung briefed on the Bac Ninh province’s socio-economic development situation, potential and strengths. He also said that currently, the cooperation between Bac Ninh province and Nepal is still limited, not commensurate with the potential and good traditional friendly relationship between the two countries. Therefore, he hoped that this visit of the delegation to Nepal would be the starting point for building cooperative relationships between the province and Nepal’s partners in the near future.

Chung wished that the two countries would jointly open one country’s markets to another’s agricultural products, especially for Bac Ninh province’s handicraft village products to access the Nepal market; promote information exchange, expand cooperation in high-tech agriculture, and exchange agricultural experts. At the same time, Nepal would support the province in implementing information exchanges, and promoting unique cultural values and heritage to Nepalese people, he added. Chung also noted that Nepal would pay attention to support Bac Ninh province in advocating for the craft of Dong Ho folk painting to be recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in need of urgent protection of humanity.

Mr. Rajan Bhattarai welcomed the delegation to visit and work in Nepal. At the same time, he said that the Communist Party of Nepal has become the leading Communist Party in the number of popular votes in the 2022 national election and has joined the Government with the goal of political stability and promoting economic development.

Mr. Rajan Bhattarai highly appreciated the Vietnamese socio-economic achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and emphasized the two countries’ intersection of history and religion. He noticed that there is much potential for cooperation and exchange between the two countries, especially in trade, investment promotion and cultural exchange. In the coming time, he also hoped that the two sides would further promote the relationship between the two Parties and two countries. At the same time, two diplomatic representative offices in each country and direct flights between the two countries will be opened.
