Standing Vice Chairwoman of Provincial People’s Council Tran Thi Hang visits and works in Korea

(BNP) – From August 1 to August 4, a delegation of Provincial People’s Council led by Mrs. Tran Thi Hang, Member in the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairwoman of Provincial People’s Council researched and exchanged experiences in Council work, urban and high-tech development in Korea.

Joining the delegation were leaders of Legal Department, Office of the Delegation of National Assembly Deputies and the Provincial People’s Council, representatives from the regional People’s Council delegations in several districts and towns.

In Korea, Standing Vice Chairwoman Tran Thi Hang together with the Delegation worked with leaders of Daegu city Council, Jeju High-tech Agricultural Research Institute and the Embassy of Vietnam in Korea.

At the working sessions, Standing Vice Chairwoman Tran Thi Hang briefed on the outstanding achievements in socio-economic development as well as potentials, strengths, policies attracting investment of Bac Ninh province. Until now, Bac Ninh is considered to be a shining point of the country in attracting foreign investment with 1.934 valid FDI projects, total investment capital reaching more than USD 24,2 billion from 39 countries and territories, these projects mainly invest in the manufacturing and processing industry.

Among which, Korea is the leading country having 964 projects with the total investment capital of USD 14,45 billion, accounting for about 59,6% of the total foreign investment capital in the province. Korean businesses basically comply with the provisions of Vietnamese law, promote investment efficiency, contribute positively to the socio-economic development of the province.

In term of bilateral cooperation, Bac Ninh province and Daegu city signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing friendship relationship in September 2018. So far, both sides have enhanced exchange, discussion and cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, tourism, health, environment, investment, education, textiles, smart city building and technology transfer, etc. In November 2019, the People’s Committee of Bac Ninh province and Cheonan city, Chungcheongnam province signed a document to exchange and support economic, cultural and educational development, etc.

For units at district and provincial levels such as Bac Ninh city, Tu Son city, Que Vo town, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Provincial Labor Confederation, etc. also have many cooperation agreements in the field with several Korean localities and agencies.

Standing Vice Chairwoman hoped that Bac Ninh province and Korean partners would promote the signed bilateral cooperation in order to boost the potential strengths of both sides in the upcoming time; investment promotion for businesses intending to learn about investment opportunities and environment in Bac Ninh. At the same time, both sides continue to attract large-scale projects and non-governmental aid sources from Korea to the province, focus on the fields of high-tech, reducing environmental pollution, poverty alleviation, educating poor students, construction of rural roads; especially promote the Saemaul Globalization Fund to carry out agricultural development projects in Bac Ninh city.
