Located at the western gateway of Bac Ninh province, a satellite town of Hanoi capital and one of the two economic - cultural - educational centers of the province, Tu Son with many industrial parks, many famous traditional craft villages are having a condition to thrive.

In 2016, Tu Son was one of the first two district-level units of Bac Ninh province to complete the task of building a new rural area, and was received the Third-class Labor Medal by the State President. Many key projects have been put into use, contributing to timely solving people's problems and promoting socio-economic development. The urban appearance is spacious, green, clean and beautiful, worthy of a young urban area developing quickly in the urban chain of the economic triangle of Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh. Taking advantage of the potentials of traffic, geographical location, cultural history, and tourism available, Tu Son focused on planning and developing industrial zones, clusters, and traditional handicraft villages in the direction of selective investment attraction; supporting the production of small and medium-sized enterprises, industry and craft villages along with environmental protection.

According to the Resolution passed by the National Assembly Standing Committee on September 22, 2021, from November 1, 2021, Tu Son town officially became a city directly under Bac Ninh province. Currently, Tu Son city has an area of 61.08 km2, a population of 202,874 people and 12 wards, the urbanization rate reaches 100%. Tu Son city is oriented to be a satellite town of Hanoi Capital, located in the urban core of a centrally run city in the future, a clean and high-tech industrial center of the Capital region and a major city in the region. Tu Son is also an economic, industrial and service center, one of the " locomotives and cores" promoting the socio-economic development of Bac Ninh province.

Tu Son develops the city in the direction of an urban economy, transforming the economic structure with the main branches of trade and service.

Tu Son city is both a land with a rich history and culture, as well as a locality experiencing economic development, especially with famous traditional craft villages not only in Bac Ninh province but also across the country such as: Dong Ky wood craft village, Phu Khe, Da Hoi steel, Dinh Bang wife cake, Tuong Giang weaving...
