Visiting special national relic of Dragon Temple, Dinh Bang ward

(BNP) - Built during the Tran Dynasty (13th century), through time and war, up to now, Dragon Temple (also known as Dragon Temple), Long Vy quarter, Dinh Bang ward, Tu Son city still retains the old architecture, becoming a tourist destination - cultural and spiritual attracting a large number of people in the region and tourists from all over the world.


 

The Dragon Temple worships Ly Chieu Hoang - the 9th king of the Ly Dynasty who ascended the throne at the age of 7. In 1226, she ceded the throne to her husband, Tran Canh, from here the Ly dynasty was transferred to the Tran dynasty. In 1278, she visited her hometown of Co Phap and died here, and was built by the locals to worship the Dragon Temple (later called the Dragon Temple).


 

Currently, the Dragon Temple is built on an area of more than 2,800m2, including the following items: temple gate (ritual subject), temple, mother house, guest house and ancillary works. The temple gate was built on a large scale, with the main gate and two side gates on both sides.


 

The temple has an architectural plan in the style of Chinese “Dinh” letter, including: The Front Ceremonial Hall and the Emperor’s harem. On both sides of the temple are 2 kneeling elephant statues made of green stone.


 

The Front Ceremonial Hall was restored right on the occasion of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi.


Statue of Ly Chieu Hoang is located in the middle of the temple.


The Mother House consists of 4 compartments built in the traditional style.


 

Currently, the temple still preserves many valuable ancient artifacts of the Nguyen Dynasty: worshiping statues, worshiping altars, incense altars, diaphragms, parallel sentences…

In the temple premises, there are 3 Vietnamese heritage trees (2 trees of “Nhội” and 1 tree of “Duối”).


 

The annual temple festival is held on the 22nd and 23rd day of the 9th lunar month to commemorate the death date of Ly Chieu Hoang. Along with the temples of the kings of the Ly dynasty, the Dragon Temple is ranked as a special National Monument according to Decision No. 2408/QD-TTg dated December 31, 2014.
