2018 National Fencing Championships opens

(BNP) – In the evening of May 16th, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordination with General Department of Sports and Physical Training (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) opened the 9th National Fencing Championships in 2018 at Phu Son Sport and Cultural Tourism Center.

The tournament attracted 112 athletes from 7 provinces, cities and sectors nationwide including Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Duong and the Ministry of Public Security. Athletes will compete in 3 categories including saber, foil and epee, and divide into 2 groups of age: under 17, 18 - 20, to vie for 18 sets of medals.

Attending the tournament, Bac Ninh team sent 15 athletes participating in 2 groups of ages and competing in all three categories (saber, foil and epee).

The tournament is an opportunity for young athletes to fight and gain experience in fencing. Through the tournament, organizers will select outstanding athletes to join the national fencing team participating in regional and international tournaments, especially Sea Games 2019 and Olympic 2020.

The 9th National Fencing Championships will be taken place from May 16th to May 23rd, 2018 at Gymnasium of Bac Ninh province.
