(BNP) – Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha issued Decision approving the Urban and Rural System Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, by the end of this decade, the Government targets to speed up and improve the quality of urbanization, develop the urban and rural system in a more effective and comprehensive manner, build synchronous and modern infrastructures and create a healthy, climate-resilient and environmentally friendly living environment.

The Government also aims to enhance comprehensive and sustainable rural development associated with urbanization, synchronous infrastructure and social services while preserving and promoting the national cultural identity of each region.

According to planning, there are 5 centrally run urban areas including: Hanoi Capital, Ho Chi Minh City (expected to be a special urban area by 2030), Hai Phong, Can Tho, Da Nang (expected to be a type I urban area by 2030).).

08 provinces are oriented to become a centrally-run city from now until 2030 including Thua Thien-Hue, Khanh Hoa, Bac Ninh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, Hai Duong and Binh Duong.

The planning promulgates a List of 42 class I urban areas, of which the Red River Delta has 11 urban areas, the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region has 5 urban areas, and the North Central and Central Coast Region has 7 urban areas. , The Central Highlands region has 3 urban areas, the Southeast region has 5 urban areas, and the Mekong Delta region has 11 urban areas.

There are 50 class II urban areas, of which the Red River Delta has 10 urban areas, the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region has 11 urban areas, the North Central and Central Coast Region has 11 urban areas, and the Central Highlands Region has 3 urban areas areas. 8 urban areas, the Southeast region has 7 urban areas, and the Mekong Delta region has 7 urban areas.
