Bac Ninh city celebrates 70th anniversary of Liberation of Bac Ninh city
(BNP) - On the evening of August 7, at Kinh Bac Cultural Center, the Bac Ninh City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Fatherland Front Committee solemnly held the ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Bac Ninh city (August 8, 1954 - 2024).

Delegates at the ceremony were Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA); Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Commander of Military Region I; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee (PPC) and Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies; Mrs. Nguyen Huong Giang, Standing Deputy Secretary of the PPC and Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Alternate Member of Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the PPC and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives from central ministries, departments and branches; former leaders of Bac Ninh province through the periods; members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, Delegation of National Assembly Deputies; domestic and international localities; leaders of departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities; representatives from Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor, revolutionary veterans and a large number of people.

At the ceremony, Secretary of the Bac Ninh City Party Committee Ta Dang Doan said that during the 9-year resistance battle (1945-1954), the army and people of Bac Ninh city worked together to produce and fight steadily and valiantly, accomplishing numerous successes. On August 8, 1954, at precisely 10:00 a.m., resistance cadres and main force troops marched into the city to seize control. The entire city was decorated with flags and flowers, celebrating victory. This day has become a milestone in the history of revolutionary struggle, serving as a motivator and conduit for the party, government, and people to work together to create and develop the homeland.

After 70 years of liberation, Bac Ninh city has now transformed strongly, broken through and risen, worthy of its role as the economic and political center of Bac Ninh province. It has been recognized by the NA and the Government as a type I urban area, and 19 out of 19 administrative units have become wards.
On this occasion, the City Party Committee and people expressed their gratitude for the great contributions of heroic martyrs, revolutionary veterans, Vietnamese heroic mothers, wounded and sick soldiers... This is also an opportunity to educate about historical and revolutionary traditions and encourage cadres, party members, and people of Bac Ninh City to continue writing new pages of history to further glorify the cultural, revolutionary, and heroic traditions of the homeland.

Speaking at the ceremony, PPC’s Secretary Nguyen Anh Tuan congratulated, acknowledged and praised the important achievements of Bac Ninh city in the glorious 70-year journey of construction and development, contributing to the province’s overall development.

PPC’s Secretary Tuan requested Bac Ninh City to focus on synchronously implementing the plans approved by the Prime Minister and the province; maximally mobilizing resources, expanding space, and improving urban quality associated with preserving and promoting the cultural identity and people of Bac Ninh-Kinh Bac; promoting investment attraction for urban development; high-quality trade and services; large-scale tourism, entertainment, and recreation areas; diversifying public utilities; enhancing digital transformation, smart production, and green development; creating intra-provincial and regional linkages; and driving forces for rapid and sustainable development and so on.

Launching the emulation movement, Chairman of the Bac Ninh City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Hieu called on all cadres, party members, and people to inherit and promote the glorious revolutionary tradition of the past 70 years, uphold the spirit of solidarity, proactively and creatively overcome difficulties and challenges, turn will, determination, and aspirations into beliefs and actions in patriotic emulation movements, be determined to successfully implement the resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels, and build Bac Ninh City into a civilized, modern, safe, and culturally rich city.
After the solemn ceremony, the delegates and the people enjoyed the art program “Bac Ninh City – Aspiration to Shine”. The program ended with a Drone light performance combined with artistic fireworks.
