Bac Ninh - Destination of Japanese businesses

(BNP) - In recent years, a series of large-scale projects of famous domestic and international enterprises investing in Bac Ninh have shown the attractiveness and strong attraction of Kinh Bac to investors as well as contributed to improving the image and position and affirming Bac Ninh is a reliable destination for investors and businesses in domestic and foreign.

Thanks to favorable geo-political location, geo-economic along with incentives policies and an open investment environment, Bac Ninh has become an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors and is leading the country in foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction. In 2005, there were many foreign investment projects from Asian countries such as Taiwan, China, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia investing in Bac Ninh province’s Industrial Parks (IPs). Up to now, there have been projects from other countries in the region such as South Korea, Japan and countries in Europe and America such as America, Germany, England, Samoa Republic ... Especially, the projects come from the corporations such as Samsung (Korea), Nokia (Finland), ABB (Sweden) and Canon (Japan).

At present, the province has 1,360 FDI projects with a total investment of over USD 18 billion from 35 countries and territories. In particular, Japan has 92 projects with a total registered investment capital of USD 1.2 billion, ranking the third for the scale of investment capital (only after Korea and Singapore). Japanese enterprises mainly focus on manufacturing electronic and mechanical components such as Canon, Foster Electric, Hayakawa Electronic Vietnam, Shihen Vietnam, Platec Vietnam, Trois Electronic ... Japanese enterprises contributed positively to the province’s overall socio-economic development, especially the value of industrial production reached about USD 2 billion, the export value was about USD 1.5 billion and the State budget was more USD 22 million, created jobs for over 33,000 workers.

In parallel with the development of production and business, Japanese enterprises always obeyed the laws of Vietnam as well as fully implemented the regulations, income benefits and health for employees and positively participated in the social and welfare activities in the province.

At the meeting of Japanese businesses in Bac Ninh, Deputy General Director of Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd. thanked Bac Ninh's leaders for always accompanying, standing side by side, promptly removing all obstacles during the operation of the investment business community in the province. At the same time, he believed that Bac Ninh will continue to foster rapid and sustainable development, deserving an attractive destination for foreign businesses in general and Japanese enterprises in particular. In the coming time, Bac Ninh province will soon complete and develop the infrastructure system around the IP into utility cities with an aim to attracting more people and workers; pay attention to training human resources to serve the needs of enterprises; expand and attract universities in the province…

On behalf of provincial leaders, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phong highly appreciated Japanese projects in accordance with the province’s development criteria and the orientation of attractive investment in the current period. In the next time, Bac Ninh province continued to identify Japan as a strategic investment partner in the fields including education and training, high-tech agriculture, high-tech industry, supporting industry, environment and energy saving, automotive manufacturing…

In the coming time, the province will attract more Japanese enterprises to invest in Vietnam in general and Bac Ninh province in particular.
