Bac Ninh organizes drill in handling and investigating large-scale food poisoning in industrial parks
(BNP) - On the morning of October 24, at Goertek Technology Vina Co.,Ltd (Goertek), the Provincial Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety (Steering Committee) organized a drill in handling and investigating large-scale food poisoning in industrial parks in the province. Mr. Le Xuan Loi, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee attended and directed the drill.

Hypothetical situation: The lunch poisoning of Goeterk took place at 10:00 A.M. on October N, 2024 with 10,000 meals. At 2:00 P.M. on the same day, at the company's administrative office, an employee showed signs of severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and frequent diarrhea. At around 2:30 P.M., more workers with similar symptoms were gathering at the company's medical room for examination. According to the announcement from the production workshops, more patients were being transferred to the company's medical room.
After receiving and examining the patients at the medical room, the doctors suspected that this was a large-scale food poisoning case, and the medical room was currently overloaded. In response to this situation, the kitchen management department and the leadership of Goertek were notified. At the same time, the situation was reported to the hotline of the Provincial Food Safety Management Authority.
Immediately upon receiving the information, the Provincial Food Safety Management Authority established a rapid response team to investigate and handle the situation, and discussed and requested the Department of Health to agree on a plan; thus deploying a field examination area to receive, provide first aid, and screen patients.
With careful preparation, more than 200 officers and employees of the Provincial Food Safety Management Authority, Que Vo Town Medical Center and Goeterk participated in the drill in accordance with the scenario, goals and requirements.
On behalf of the provincial leaders and the Steering Committee, Vice Chairman Le Xuan Loi acknowledged and commended all forces participating in the drill. He requested the Provincial Food Safety Management Authority to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to organize an assessment of the training and exercise process, draw lessons in handling and investigating mass food poisoning.
At the end of the drill, 4 groups and 3 individuals with outstanding achievements in the drill received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
On this occasion, delegates visited the utility areas serving the workers’ lives and the technical training center of Goeterk.
