Chairman of Provincial People's Committee receives Japanese ceramic artisans

(BNP) - On May 20, Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee received and worked with ceramic artisans of Onimaru Setsuzangama pottery factory (Japan) led by Mr. Hekiazan Onimaru to discuss cooperative situation in the development of pottery under the project "Restoring and developing ceramic industry with Takatoriyaki ceramic technology in Phu Lang village, Que Vo district".

Onimaru Setsuzangama pottery factory located in Toho village, Fukuoka province has a long history of formation and development in Japan, specializing in producing folk art ceramic products to serve the needs of traditional tea enjoying ceremony (Sado). Its products have been exhibited in many parts of the world so far.

Surveys of guests pointed out many similarities between Japanese ceramic products and Phu Lang pottery. Based on that, Mr. Hekiazan Onimaru reviewed and built the project "Restoring and developing the ceramic industry with Takatoriyaki ceramic technology in Phu Lang village, Que Vo district", enlisting the capital for a small local cooperation project of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Mr. Hekiazan Onimaru wished to cooperate with Bac Ninh province to implement the project with the aim of developing the ceramic industry on 4 criteria: Environmental protection; maintaining the tradition of craft villages; building tourist destinations, and improving income for local inhabitants. The project is expected to be approved in June 2019. Mr. Onimaru Setsuzangama will send experts to Phu Lang village to support directly production after approval of competent authorities.

Welcoming Japanese ceramic artisans to Bac Ninh, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Quynh emphasized that, besides economic development towards modern industry, Bac Ninh also paid special attention to developing traditional handicraft villages including Phu Lang pottery village.

Bac Ninh leader, for his part, assigned Provincial People's Committee Office, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with Mr. Hekiazan Onimaru and his delegation of Onimaru Setsuzangama ceramic factory to take the survey and make a detailed plan. At the same time, he affirmed that the province would support and facilitate Japanese artisans to learn and implement the project with the highest efficiency.
