Standing Vice Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan attends Roundtable discussion on “infrastructure readiness for semiconductor industry in Vietnam”
(BNP) - On December 7, a roundtable discussion on “infrastructure readiness for semiconductor industry in Vietnam” was jointly organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the National Innovation Centre (NIC), and the US Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) in Hanoi.

Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung; Alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan attended the discussion.
Addressing the event, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed to implement cooperation for developing the semiconductor industry as outlined in the joint statement between Vietnam and the US, Vietnam has actively prepared conditions for receiving cooperative opportunities with the US companies and investors in the semiconductor supply chain. Among which, Vietnam has focused on perfecting the system of policies and laws on investment as well as the one-stop-shop mechanism to handle procedures for investors, establishing the NIC in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park to welcome investment projects in the semiconductor industry, and building a plan for developing high-quality human resources of 30,000 engineers serving the semiconductor industry by 2030, he added.
Dung believed that SIA and its member businesses would receive a lot of information to soon have plans for cooperation and investment in Vietnam.

For his part, SIA President and CEO John Neuffer said that SIA member companies had significant investments in Vietnam and doubled their investment in the country. This demonstrates Vietnam’s increasingly growing role in the global semiconductor supply chain, he noted.
In addition, Vietnam has established its specific directions, goals, and actions, creating a coherent foundation for the semiconductor industry and it is considered as a country with a dynamic innovative ecosystem. As a result, Vietnam is proving itself as a new economic growth center of Asia with a firm position in the global supply chain.
SIA members and Vietnamese localities and enterprises discussed the infrastructure conditions needed to meet the requirements of semiconductor industry businesses. At the same time, they provided basic information about the business investment environment; infrastructure conditions and preferential policies in industrial parks, economic zones, high-tech parks, etc.
At the discussion, Standing Vice Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan briefed on the province’s socio-economic development with many indicators among the leading provinces in the country. He also shared the province’s investment attraction orientations in the upcoming time.

Bac Ninh province hoped that in the coming time, Central agencies and the SIA would support and cooperate with the province in building the North’s high-tech ecosystem in Bac Ninh, especially the production of semiconductors and chips; training human resources; and building research and development centers.
