(BNP) – On the morning of March 26th, at the Bac Ninh Provincial Gymnasium, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the opening ceremony of the 2026 Chess and Chinese chess championship in Bac Ninh province within the framework of the First Bac Ninh Provincial Sports Festival.

This year's tournament brings together nearly 400 athletes from 46 communes and wards throughout the province, competing in advanced and championship categories in 3 events (men and women): Standard chess, rapid chess, and blitz chess. In the championship category, units compete for individual and team prizes; in the advanced category, only individual prizes are contested.
The tournament is organized to create a beneficial intellectual playground, contributing to the discovery and nurturing of sports talents, while spreading the value of chess in social life, especially for the younger generation.

This year's tournament is an opportunity for athletes to compete, achieve success, and exchange knowledge, contributing to the promotion of sports in general and intellectual sports in particular in the province.

According to the plan, the tournament will take place from March 25-29, 2026. The Organizing Committee will award one gold medal, one silver medal, and two bronze medals to individuals achieving high results in each competition category of the two sports.
