(BNP) - On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026 (Year of the Horse), a delegation led by Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Son on February 5th, visited and extended New Year greetings to the Korean Embassy and the UNESCO Office in Hanoi.

At the Korean Embassy, Son informed Ambassador Choi Young Sam that, Bac Ninh has now 1,138 projects from Korean businesses with a total registered investment capital of USD 16.3 billion after adjustments, ranking first in total registered capital and second in the number of projects.
Up to now, the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee has signed Memorandums of Understanding establishing friendly relations and cooperation with the governments of Daegu city, Gyeongsangbuk province, and Chungcheongnam province. In addition, the Provincial People's Committee has inherited several district-level agreements signed with Korean localities such as Seo district, Daejeon city; Cheonju city, Chungcheongbuk province; and Busanjin district, Busan city.

The Standing Vice Chairman respectfully thanked the Korean Embassy in Vietnam and Korean businesses for their attention and support in choosing Bac Ninh for long-term investment. During a visit to extend New Year greetings to the UNESCO Office in Hanoi, the Standing Vice Chairman presented flowers and gifts, and conveyed his best wishes to the Head of the Representative Office and all staff members of the UNESCO Office for a healthy, prosperous, and successful new year.
Son said that Bac Ninh currently leads the country with 8 cultural heritage sites recognized and inscribed by UNESCO. The province has carried out conservation and promotion initiatives as part of its commitment to UNESCO, with numerous successes.
In 2026, Bac Ninh province plans to develop a dossier to submit to UNESCO for the recognition of Vietnamese water puppetry and the cultural figure Ly Cong Uan (King Ly Thai To) on the occasion of the 1,000th anniversary of his death (1028-2028).

The Head of UNESCO's Representative Office in Vietnam was kindly invited by Mr. Mai Son to attend the "Returning to the Quan Ho Region" Festival, which is set for the end of March 2026, and the ceremony for the UNESCO certificate acknowledging the Dong Ho folk painting craft as a cultural heritage in urgent need of protection. Additionally, he asked UNESCO to help Bac Ninh province's efforts to preserve, conserve, and advance cultural values while simultaneously advancing the province's advancements in science, technology, and education.
