Bac Ninh spreads Quan Ho folk songs in contemporary life
(BNP) - After 15 years of being recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs are truly not only "deeply rooted" in the lives of people in Bac Ninh but also being welcomed and practiced by communities and other regions.
Talking about Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs is the overall culture composed of many elements of folk art and culture in a long historical process, associated with village culture. Quan Ho cultural space is built by the community's Quan Ho playing style, always filtered in the flow of history. The most unique and rich quintessence and identity in Quan Ho culture are the singing style and techniques, and Quan Ho playing style.
Currently, there are over 600 Quan Ho clubs, 44 of them are recognized as original Quan Ho villages and 150 of which as Quan Ho practicing villages in Bac Ninh province. The established club system has created a widespread network of activities from the province to the grassroots, becoming one of the "cradles" to preserve and nurture Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs. This is truly a collective activity model, aiming to preserve, conserve and promote the traditional cultural identity values of the nation, and is an environment to nurture artistic talents, especially the young generation.
Currently, Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs have developed and spread to many localities and provinces across the country, typically Bac Giang has 5 original Quan Ho villages and 84 Quan Ho clubs; Ho Chi Minh City has 17 Quan Ho clubs; other provinces and cities also have many active Quan Ho clubs such as: Hanoi, Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Khanh Hoa, Binh Dinh, Lam Dong, Kon Tum, Lai Chau..., thus affirming the attractiveness of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk song heritage in contemporary life.
Since August 2017, Bac Ninh province has regularly organized and maintained the programs of Quan Ho folk song singing on boats during holidays and Tet. Up to now, dozens of programs with diverse topics have been organized, attracting and leaving deep impressions on domestic and foreign tourists.
Quan Ho today is not only the pride and beauty of the people of Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac but also the Vietnamese people and humanity. The lyrical, sweet, and passionate melodies have followed many children of the homeland Vietnam to the world. In many countries such as Korea, China, France, the Czech Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany, Quan Ho clubs have been established to meet the needs of spiritual and cultural activities and satisfy the homesickness of children living far away from home, while contributing to introducing the beauty of Quan Ho culture to the people of the host country.
The number of people participating in performing, introducing and learning about Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs is constantly increasing, affirming the sustainable development and spread of the Quan Ho folk song heritage in contemporary life. It can be confirmed that after 15 years of being inscribed, Quan Ho folk songs have become an indispensable part of the spiritual life of many Vietnamese people.
