Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee requests to completely handle environmental pollution in Phong Khe handicraft village, Phu Lam industrial cluster and Van Mon commune

(BNP) - On October 23, Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) chaired a progress meeting between Chairman and Vice Chairmen of the PPC on handling environmental pollution in Phong Khe ward (Bac Ninh city), Phu Lam industrial cluster (Tien Du district) and Van Mon commune (Yen Phong district).

Participants at the meeting were Mr. Dao Quang Khai, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the PPC; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Le Xuan Loi, Vice Chairman of the PPC; and leaders of departments, sectors and localities.

After 1 month of implementing the direction of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and the PPC’s Chairman, the strengthening of controlling and moving towards completely handling environmental pollution in Phong Khe ward, Phu Lam industrial cluster and Van Mon commune has gained initial results achieved by the units.

During the meeting, delegates discussed and proposed solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles in the handling process. They suggested methods and policies to support relocation and conversion, thus solving the problem of environmental pollution and creating high consensus among the people.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan acknowledged and commended the Party Standing Committee and the People’s Committee of Bac Ninh city in implementing the instructions and achieving many positive results.

In the coming time, the Chairman requested the Party Committee and the People’s Committee of Tien Du district to be more drastic in handling environmental pollution at Phu Lam industrial cluster; determinedly stop the operation of production facilities that do not ensure environmental pollution treatment and carry out other tasks in accordance with the schedule.

For environmental pollution control in Van Mon commune, Chairman Tuan directed the People’s Committee of Yen Phong district to make a detailed plan to resolutely stop the operation of aluminum recycling facilities and households in Man Xa handicraft village which do not have gas treatment solutions that meet Vietnamese standards and do not have contracts with competent units to treat waste slag in accordance with the legal provisions, before December 31, 2024.

In terms of the Man Xa handicraft village and production facilities in Man Xa industrial cluster, a provincial-level interdisciplinary inspection team led by a leader of the Provincial Public Security will be established to conduct investigation into the following issues: environment, fire prevention and fighting, planning, construction, and so on. The competent authority must intensively stop the operation of facilities that do not comply with legal regulations; and report the results to the PPC’s Chairman before November 30, 2024.
