Dai Trung communal house

(BNP) - Dai Trung communal house (Dai Dong commune, Tien Du district) has a long history of construction. During the resistance war against the French, the communal house was a place to keep weapons, so it was dismantled and burned by the French. In 1992, the local people restored it on the old ground.

Dai Trung communal house is located at the beginning of the village; it faces South. There are 2 small ponds and a little temple in front of the communal house; on its right is the pagoda and it is surrounded by VSIP industrial land and residential areas. Many ancient trees are planted in the relic’s ground.

The communal house is a place to worship the village’s Tutelary God, Dai Si Con Son, who helped King Tran Nghe Tong suppress the rebellion. He also opened a school to teach the local residents.

The relic currently consists of “Đại đình” (Great communal hall), “Hậu cung” (Emperor’s harem), and “Nghi môn” (Gate). The main communal house has an architecture of Chinese “Nhi” letter including Dai dinh and Hau cung.

The Dai dinh has 3 compartments, 2 lean-stones, and 4 curved roofs as well as an open door to 3 middle compartments. The load-bearing frame is made of strong wood.

At the festival (on February 12), a sacrifice ceremony is held at the communal house. During the festival, many games take place such as: swinging, wrestling, tug of war, and chess.
