Delegation of Provincial People’s Council works in Australia and New Zealand
(BNP) - From December 18 to 25, 2024, a delegation of the Provincial People’s Council led by Mrs. Tran Thi Hang promoted investment, trade and cultural, and educational cooperation in Australia and New Zealand.
The delegation visits and works with the Vietnamese Business Association in Victoria State.

The Vietnamese Business Association in Australia includes about 800 members. It comprehensively promotes in all socio-economic fields, acts as a bridge connecting Australian businesses with Vietnamese ones, and supports the introduction and bringing Vietnamese products to the Australian market.
Here, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council Tran Thi Hang briefed on some recent outstanding socio-economic results of Bac Ninh province. At the same time, she said that Bac Ninh is focusing on selectively attracting investment, green investment projects, high-tech industry, supporting industry associated with advanced management and governance methods; 5G and 6G terminal technology; high-tech agriculture, clean agriculture; high-end commercial service complexes (commercial centers, entertainment, international training and medical services, etc.); infrastructure investment projects, urban and ecological development.
Together with the Central Government, Bac Ninh province always identifies the overseas Vietnamese community as an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation. On that basis, Bac Ninh province always focuses on promoting work with overseas Vietnamese, thus implementing many activities to strengthen their attachments to the locality.
Hang suggested the Association for paying attention and supporting the province as a bridge to promote and encourage Australian businesses and Vietnamese businessmen in Australia to explore investment in Bac Ninh province, especially in attracting and cooperating with foreign investment of Bac Ninh province in the coming time and also the strengths of Australian businesses such as high-tech agriculture; technology, digital transformation; renewable energy; infrastructure, green economy, tourism, etc. It also pays attention to promoting and campaigning for the Dong Ho folk painting craft to be recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in need of urgent protection of humanity.
During 2 days from December 19 to 20, the delegation conducted a field survey at Melbourne’s leading ice cream and chocolate factory - Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery; at the Treasury, City Hall, Parliament House; and participated in the Gala Dinner organized by the Vietnamese Business Association in Australia, and so on.
The delegation presents Dong Ho folk paintings to the Director of the Maori Trusted Investment Fund.
*On December 21, the delegation worked with the Maori National Council - Maori Trusted Investment Fund on the issue of preserving cultural values for ethnic people in Auckland, New Zealand.
The Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand, accounting for about 1/5 of the country’s population, with many unique customs bearing traditional imprints. Currently, the New Zealand Government is implementing many measures to preserve and maintain the traditional culture of the Maori community, especially the Maori language.
United Maori Mission is an investment fund established in the 1930s to help Maori people preserve their culture in the process of urbanization. The fund is based in Auckland and focuses on improving the lives of Maori people by investing in projects at home and abroad.
Standing Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hang informed on the socio-economic situation, cultural traditions and history of Bac Ninh province. She said that Bac Ninh always devotes large investment resources to culture and has issued many related policies and placed the task of developing culture on par with economics, politics and society, thereby, making culture a goal, driving force and endogenous strength to promote the province’s socio-economic development.
Bac Ninh province hopes that the Maori Council - Maori Trusted Investment Fund would support the province in implementing activities to promote unique cultural values, heritages, and famous tourist destinations to the people of New Zealand; pay attention to promoting the Dong Ho folk painting craft to be recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in need of urgent protection of humanity. Two sides also increase experience sharing, information exchange, and support the province in preserving cultural heritage, especially heritages recognized by UNESCO and in need of urgent protection; in combining cultural preservation and tourism development, building local brands through culture.
On December 22, the delegation conducted a field survey of local economic and commercial projects.

Speaking at the meeting, Mrs. Tran Thi Hang, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council, emphasized that Australia is a valuable partner for Bac Ninh province, with many strengths that can be combined in areas such as green economy, digital transformation, high-tech agriculture, education and training, and so on. In November 2023, the Bac Ninh province sent a delegation to Australia to visit and work. The delegation’s working program was a great success thanks to the Consulate General’s enthusiastic support and help.
On the occasion of visiting and working at the Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney, Standing Vice Chairwoman Tran Thi Hang requested the Consul General to support, promote and encourage Australian businesses to explore investment in Bac Ninh province; implement information exchange activities, promote unique cultural values, heritages, and famous tourist destinations to Australian people.
Bac Ninh is currently lobbying to have UNESCO identify Dong Ho folk art as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in urgent need of protection. She hoped that the Consul General would focus on promoting it to Australians in order to support Bac Ninh’s quest for UNESCO recognition as soon as possible.
The delegation works with the Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals in Australia.

The Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals in Australia was established in 2023 by the merger of intellectual groups and Vietnamese industry professionals from various Australian states and territories. The Association focuses on four major areas: education and training and international relations; scientific interchange and technological transfer; policy - trade and investment; and the environment, society, and governance.
The Standing Vice Chairwoman said that during the working session between the Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee and the Association in October 2024, the Provincial Party Standing Committee assigned the Provincial Industrial Zones Authority to be the focal point to work and consult with Prof. Nghiem Duc Long and experts on green transformation and energy transformation in industrial parks. Currently, the Provincial People’s Committee is submitting to the Permanent Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Party Standing Committee the Project “Green transformation of industrial parks in Bac Ninh province by 2030, with a vision to 2050”. Once being approved, the project will be the basis for Bac Ninh province to cooperate and consult with experts, with the aim of helping Bac Ninh develop sustainably, ensuring harmonious socio-economic development and environmental protection.
Regarding vocational training, the Provincial People’s Council issued Resolution No. 05/2024/NQ-HDND on supporting human resource training in the semiconductor industry for the 2024 – 2030 period. The province is willing to provide financial assistance in inviting scientists and professionals from the Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals in Australia in the field of chips and semiconductors to Bac Ninh to teach workers in the province’s semiconductor firms. It is proposed that the Association would act as a bridge to promote and encourage Australian businesses to invest in Bac Ninh province, assist the province in implementing information exchange activities, and promote unique cultural values, heritages, and well-known tourist destinations to Australians.
*On December 24, the delegation visited the New South Wales State Parliament House and heard an introduction to areas related to the issuance of supervision on public investment implementation, finance and budget.
