Non-governmental project to support development of Phu Lang - Que Vo pottery village
(BNP) - Phu Lang pottery village is famous not only in Bac Ninh but also throughout the country. However, as with many other craft villages, with the advancement of technology, industrial products are increasingly cheaper and have beautiful designs, making handmade products in craft villages more challenging and at risk of extinction.

On July 28, 2021, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh Province authorized the project "Developing pottery making in Phu Lang commune, Que Vo town, Bac Ninh province, Ninh" to connect economic development with the preservation of pottery village culture. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is funding the project, while the Que Vo District People's Committee is in charge of it.
The project aims to support, disseminate, and guide ceramic making techniques using Japanese methods to create standard ceramic products of good quality and beautiful designs; preserve and develop pottery making for future generations and development of the local economy. At the same time, it advertises Phu Lang ceramic products to the world and make a plan to develop Phu Lang ceramic making in the future as well as a cooperation plan with Japan. On the other hand, it is also opportunity to enhance cultural and economic exchanges between Bac Ninh province and Fukuoka province, Japan, contributing to strengthening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.
The project is expected to take three years with a total support capital of more than VND 16.7 billion. Among which, non-refundable foreign non-governmental aid capital is more than VND 13.6 billion funded by JICA and entrusted to Onimaru Setsuzan Kamamoto Co., Ltd. (Japan) for management and implementation. Counterpart capital is more than VND 3.08 billion from the provincial budget for economic and non-business expenditures, managed and implemented by the project owner.
