Bac Ninh leads nationwide in FDI capital attraction

(BNP) - According to a report by the Foreign Investment Agency (Ministry of Planning and Investment), Bac Ninh is the leading locality nationwide in FDI capital attraction in the first 6 months of 2024.

From the beginning of the year to June 20, the total registered foreign investment capital (FDI) in Vietnam reached nearly USD 15.2 billion, up 13.1% over the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, realized capital reached about USD 10.84 billion, up 8.2% compared with the same period in 2023.

FDI investors have invested in 48 provinces and cities across the country. Bac Ninh province led with a total registered investment capital of nearly USD 2.58 billion, accounting for nearly 17% of the country's total investment capital, or 3.1 times higher than the same period last year.

Bac Ninh's investment capital took the lead in the first 6 months of 2024 and increased sharply compared to the same period due to a large capital adjustment project of USD 1.07 billion from the project of the Semiconductor Materials and Equipment Manufacturing, Assembly, and Testing Factory of Amkor Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd. (in Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park). After adjusting the investment registration, the factory has a total investment capital of USD 1.6 billion, producing 3,600 million products per year.

According to the General Statistics Office, in the first 6 months of 2024, Bac Ninh province attracted 244 new FDI projects (up 75.5% over the same period) with a total registered capital of USD 1.102 billion. Of which, investors mainly came from China with 157 projects, Hong Kong with 30 projects, and Singapore with 23 projects.

In addition, 77 projects were adjusted capital, with an increased adjusted capital of USD 1.526 billion; capital contribution, share purchase, and capital contribution were 26 times as high as USD 29.3 million.

Up to now, the whole province has 2,347 valid FDI projects with total licensed investment capital of USD 27.673 billion.
