Bac Ninh ranks 4th at the National Youth Weightlifting Championship 2019

(BNP) - The National Youth Weightlifting Championship 20192019 held by General Department of Sports and Physical Training in coordination with the Department of Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province has just finished after 5 days of competition (March 28 – April 1) in Da Lat city.

The tournament attracted nearly 180 athletes representing 24 provinces and cities nationwide including Bac Ninh, Bac Lieu, Hung Yen, Ho Chi Minh City, Kien Giang, Thanh Hoa, Quang Ninh, Yen Bai, Tien Giang, Can Tho, Lao Cai, Binh Phuoc, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Hau Giang, An Giang, Hai Duong, Da Nang, Nghe An, Dong Nai, Lang Son, Hanoi, Quang Tri and Lam Dong. Athletes competed in two age groups, from 13-14 years old and 15-16 years old. In particular, male’s weight is 49kg or more and female’s weight are 40kg or more.

Bac Ninh delegation dispatched 9 athletes to join the competition including: Do Tu Tung (54kg); Tran Nhu San (73kg); Nguyen Khac Kien Trung (over 73kg); Bui Son Nghia (61kg); Do Khanh Linh (40kg); Nguyen Thi Thu Trang (45kg); Nguyen Thi Hoa (49kg); Tran Thu Ha (55kg); Kieu Hoang Minh Tam (59kg).

At the end of the tournament, organizers awarded over 60 sets of medals for the weight classes for excellent athletes. Bac Ninh won 23 medals (8 gold medals, 9 silver medals, 6 bronze medals). In which, all contestants won medals but the most outstanding achievement was winning three gold medals of Do Tu Tung. With these results, the Bac Ninh ranked fourth after Hanoi, Thanh Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City.

Previously, at the World Youth Weightlifting Championship held in March 2019 in Las Vegas (USA), Mr. Do Tu Tung competed very impressively and obtained 3 gold medals, set 3 new world youth records.
