Bac Ninh strengthens management, protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage value
(BNP) - In the document no. 2462/UBND-KGVX, the Provincial People's Committee directed strengthening the management, protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage value in the province.

Accordingly, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism as well as People’s Committee at all levels, based on their functions and tasks, efficiently deploy activities to protect and promote heritage value in compliance with the Government of Vietnam's National Action Program commitment to UNESCO.
The units focus on propagating and disseminating laws, providing professional guidance on the protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage value in the locality; raising awareness for artisans, practitioners and communities about the intangible cultural heritage value; taking measures to remind and correct artisans and practitioners, especially artisans who have been conferred with the State honorary title in their participation in activities that deform, distort heritage. Artisans need to enhance the role of heritage teaching and set an example in correct practice to preserve intangible cultural heritage.
On the other hand, the functional agencies strengthen the inspection, examination, prevention and timely dealing with the acts of taking advantage of the practice, protection and promotion of the intangible cultural heritage value for profiteering, superstitious belief activities and other illegal acts, acts that distort the intangible cultural heritage value, such as: Practicing heritage incorrect with the traditional nature and character of the heritage; changing, adding new elements and performing heritage without community consensus; putting the heritage on display beyond the practice scope of the heritage; taking advantage of the heritage title to organize meetings, introductions and trainings on heritage without the full understanding of the community, inconsistent with the spirit of Convention 2003 and Law on Cultural Heritage.
