Festival “Coming back to Vi and Giam land - Connecting quintessence of heritage” takes place
(BNP) - From November 27 to November 31, in Ha Tinh city, Ha Tinh province organized the festival “Coming back to Vi and Giam land - Connecting the quintessence of heritage” with the participation of art troupes from the provinces: Nghe An, Bac Ninh, Phu Tho, Quang Nam, Lam Dong and Ha Tinh on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs being recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The live television art program “Two banks of the Vi and Giam” is jointly organized by two provinces of Ha Tinh and Nghe An.

He also cut the ribbon to open the exhibition and performance of the cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO.

On November 27, 2014 in Paris (France), Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs were recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs are a unique art form, closely associated with the community, comprehensively reflecting the life, customs, and emotions of the people in Nghe An, nurturing the spirit, forming the character and soul of generations of people here. The folk songs contribute to the formation of famous people and great names such as: Nguyen Du, Nguyen Cong Tru, Ho Xuan Huong, Phan Boi Chau, Ho Chi Minh, Tran Phu, Ha Huy Tap... In particular, from the material of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs, many stage plays and musical works were born, becoming songs that have lasted through the years, loved and welcomed by the public.

Up to now, in addition to Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs, Vietnam has 15 representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity, including: Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs, Phu Tho Xoan singing, the art of Bai Choi in Central Vietnam, the space of gong culture in the Vietnam Highlands, etc.
Vietnam’s intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO are all cared for, preserved, promoted and strongly spread in life by provinces and communities.

The festival is an activity to further uphold the preservation and promotion of cultural heritages. This is an opportunity for artisans, artists, and actors practicing heritages in localities to exchange, learn experiences, raise awareness, practice skills, and protect heritages, aiming to widely disseminate heritages among the people, and connect cultures between regions in the country and internationally.

Within the festival’s framework, the provincial art troupes organized exhibitions and introduced typical documents and artifacts of unique intangible cultural heritage; local tourism and OCOP products. They organized performance programs and promoted representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity: gong culture (Lam Dong), Bai Choi singing (Quang Nam), Xoan singing (Phu Tho), Quan Ho (Bac Ninh), Vi and Giam folk songs (Nghe An), Vi and Giam folk songs and Ca Tru (Ha Tinh) to introduce and promote to domestic and international tourists the potential and strengths of developing the fields of culture, sports and tourism, thus promoting understanding and recognition of the unique cultural identity in each region.
